I'm enjoying my Steel Made griddle as well. The size is good for my 6 burner gasser, allowing me to shift it around a bit to position exactly over the burners I want to use before firing things up.

The drip tray takes some fiddling to get on the grate but works great. At the end of the cook, I just toss it in the dishwasher. It looks well-used after only a few cooks.

I seasoned the griddle using the instructions on the website. The information there on seasoning, cooking, and cleaning is fantastic.

I'm loving stir-frying on that thing. We don't really do big breakfasts so no griddle experience for that.

It's really nice. All the mess stays inside the gasser, not spattering out onto the deck like a griddle for my Somerset Gas Outdoor Range would have done.

I bought a Camp Chef Large Griddle Bag to store it in when not in use. Bought a second one for the gasser's grates when removed for custom-sized Grill Grate use, since the Grill Grates are on most of the time except for griddling and cleaning my kettle's grates with the gasser's high heat. So far I like the storage bags.

fzxdoc Kythryn, glad you are enjoying yours as well. Yes the six burner would I assume be large enough to cook/warm something additional beside the griddle. My grill only has two or three inches horizontal space and a few additional vertical (which I cannot use) because I position mine (and the grease catcher beneath it) as close to the the front edge of the grill surface as possible. Otherwise I find that grease trap gets rather hot with me reaching over it. I have not put the catcher into the dishwasher for fear that Carol would kill me if I did! I did scrape it out into the garbage container outdoors though and then wipe it out before returning it to its place beneath the griddle.

Glad you showed us the storage bag for the griddle. I expect I will order one for me as well. Been trying to decide how to store when using the grill without it. So far in the cardboard box it came in but that box will not last too long for that. Ditto on getting the grease pan situated. It takes fiddling to get my grill grates back lying flat again, but it can be done.

I am curious. Did you order any the the Steel Made accessories? If so what and what did you think of them? I need another few spats and plastic bottles as well as a rectangular bacon press. Most of what I saw on Amazon were kits with a lot of duplication. Would like to find individual items to avoid said duplication. Anyway, enjoy your griddle!

I bought the Flat Top Starter Kit for Outdoor Grill when I bought the griddle, Alabama Smoke . I have a lot of spatulas, but nothing so nice and long on the business end as these. Makes turning fried rice a breeze, along with other things. I used the flat edged scraper for cleaning and then seasoned with their flat top oil.

I'm not a big fan of their squirt bottles, though, because they come with teeny detachable caps which will end up either getting lost or melted on the grill before long. I prefer those OXO squirt bottles with the lid attached from Amazon:

The kit doesn't come with a bacon press, but I already have one. I bought a couple of those metal lids for steaming/melting from Blackstone. Haven't used those yet.

I had originally planned to store my griddle in the cabinet under the gasser, but it's open to the outside and I didn't want spiders, etc. crawling all over it so I thought that the griddle case would be a good way to store them close to the grill and not worry about critters. When I first saw them, they were out of stock on the Camp Chef site, so I just left a request for an email notice when they were back in stock. I got the notice within the week.

Well, I griddled breakfast this morning on the Steel Made griddle sitting atop my cooking grates on my4 burner Broil-Mate, which I believe is a Canadian company owned by Charbroil. This is only my 3rd or 4th time cooking on this griddle and I am definitely still in learning mode. Nothing fancy, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns with diced onions and tomatoes and raisin toast with butter. It was good I thought and my wife Carol seemed to enjoys hers as well. She had breakfast in bed and was pleased I got up and took care of breakfast.

Because I have never cooked on any other griddle (except my Lodge cast iron stove griddle) I cannot say whether this is as good as a dedicated griddle, but it is working well for us.

I am going to attempt (and I do mean attempt) to upload a few pics I shot of the cook.

Today I made hibachi shrimp. Same garlic butter as used in the chicken fried rice recipe. I don't have the knife skills of a hibachi chef, but it tasted great.

I need to find a recipe for their dipping sauces.

That's some gorgeous-looking shrimp, BabelBBQ . Plus I never thought about doing fried corn on the side. Usually I make fried corn in the skillet with lots of butter. Looks like you had a nice amount of butter there yourself. What a feast!

I found this post interesting and I thought this was a good idea but I already had something similar in our camping box so I used it yesterday for bacon on my Napoleon grill and it worked ok. It is home made and is all Stainless steel. I have used cast iron griddles before for bacon and clean up was messy.

Thinking about the steelmade flat top but am concerned about the grease collection. Does the drip tray work well and just how do you empty the drip tray? Looks like you have to remove cooking grids and then remove the tray which is hanging under the grid. How awkward is this to do with oil and other stuff in the tray? Looking for real world comments, did not get much help from company. Thanks!

lovetogrill Yes, the tray mounts under the grates on each side. Yes, you must remove the grates to empty the tray. I have 4 separate grill grates on my 4 burner gasser. I simply and easily remove the two center grates, then lift either of the two outside grates slightly, put one hand under the grate, and that side of the tray drops free of the grate. Repeat on the other side and you have it out. It holds enough grease that I do not bother to empty it except after about 3 to 4 cooks. I wait until it is cold to keep from burning myself and to avoid dumping hot grease on my hands or into the grill. I simply use a paper towel or two and rake it directly into the outside garbage. The tray is stainless and can be put into the dishwasher if you wish. Reinstallation is basically the reverse of removing them. No biggie. I will say the first time you install you are likely to think it will not allow the grates to sit flat on the grill......it will and easily.....after practice a couple of times. There is a short learning curve to that, but it only takes 15 minutes or so to see how it works. No problem after that. I really like my Steel Made Griddle.

Darn, just looked at the drip pan and it shows the length across the front as 26 inches. My grill is 24 1/2 inches wide and 16 5/8 deep so the Steel Made top will fit but the drip pan will not so I am out of luck on this one. Should have looked at this sooner. I will probably go with the Little Griddle as it will fit my top and has built in grease trap at the front.

How good is the grease mgt system of your gasser? If it’s really good at draining into a removable pan typically placed under the gasser’s base, it might do the job for you.

Contacted Steelmade about the length of the grease pan. They responded that they had shortened the pan to 24 inches to fit more grills. They have just corrected the web site. This will now fit mine and I am about to order based on all the great comments from all of you. Thanks so much and I will let you know how the cooks turn out.
