What is the best flat top grill to buy? I’m looking at Blackstone and Camp Chef. I’m wanting a stainless 36†grill. What are some pros and cons from these two options??

Make sure if you chose Blackstone it’s the newer model. On the old models the grease collection is a channel at the front of the grill and it’s supposed to fall off the end and drop into the grease cup but without modifying it the grease runs down the leg of the Griddle.

MAK 2 Star - MAK 3 Star - Camp Chef FTG900
I am not a vegetarian, but I eat animals that are
I’ve had both and MUCH prefer the Camp Chef griddles.
1) CS are unaffected by wind. BS can not handle wind... it really messes with the flame.
2) CS is built much sturdy and beefier than the BS’s.
3) CS comes pre-seasoned.
4) CS has much more even heat distribution.
If you haven’t already, I’d encourage you to check out YouTube and search for "Blackstone vs Camp Chef griddles".
I absolutely LOVE flat top cooking, and I can’t imagine you won’t feel the same
*for sake of this post, BS = Blackstone (LOL).

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Blackshirt BBQ I just went through both the Camp Chef and Blackstone Cooking sites. You said you wanted a stainless flat top, and although Blackstone makes a stainless 36" model, the top itself is still cold rolled steel. Just the legs and framework are stainless, versus painted on the other 36" models they sell. I imagine stainless as thick as the 7 gauge rolled steel top would be too expensive and drive cost up too much for the market.
Just thought I would point that out - none of these flat tops have a stainless cooking surface. That puts the advantage to Camp Chef for being pre-seasoned, having leveling legs on one end, to help level it out, and also having a removable top that can convert to a grill on some units. I like the rear grease management on the newer Blackstones, but I guess as long as the unit slopes towards wherever the grease trap is, it probably doesn't matter.

You would be fine with either one at this price point. To me, they are basically the same unit. At this price point, you can't go wrong either way. I've cooked on both many times, I own a BlackStone and my buddy has a Camp Chef, I use his when I go up to his place in the summer. In my eyes, they are pretty much the same unit.
If you want more sturdy construction, better cooking surfaces, more btu's etc. Or just an overall better unit, you gotta be willing to spend more money. As soon as my outdoor kitchen becomes a reality, in a few years, the Blackstone is getting the boot and an Evo or a Wolf is gonna find a new home here in MN.

I have the blackstone with fhe paper towel holder and rear drain. My dad got one shortly after me, it had the rear drain but the older cart (no paper towel holder or cutting board). They are making one now with an enclosed cabinet.
I like what I have, but honestly the camp chef is just as good. Neither choice is really better, they are both so close in every category.
I got mine on prime days for a great price. I think they were purging excess inventory to prepare for the newer design that Walmart is selling. I was wanting fhe stainless cart, but I got the powder coated cart instead (for $200 less). The powder coating is well done, I keep mine under a cover and then under a roof. The cover is waterproof but mostly keeps the cook top clean.

That’s the one I’m probably going to get

Can’t go wrong with either choice. They are both excellent. I like my blackstone, mainly because that is what I have. I concluded the camp chef ability to be a gas "grill" wasn’t a big deal because NO flareup control and no lid. If you want a gas grill, there are better options. If you want a griddle get a griddle. Again, both camp chef and blackstone are equally awesome. It all comes down to price.

I have both the 36 blackstone and the camp chef 600. Both are excellent. I had many problems with the igniter on the blackstone.i also like the versatility of turning the camp chef into a gas grill. Can't go wrong with either but if I was to buy another it would be the camp chef. It is selling for 299 at Dick's

I have owned both the BS & CS 36" griddles. I could nit-pick between the two with some extremely minor things being better on one -vs- the other but the reality is that they are quite similar and like so many other cookers, you need to go with the one where you won't second guess your purchase. When it came to actually cooking, I saw few performance differences between the two brands. Whichever you go with, get a hardcover.
