    Beach Set Up

    Hello all,

So my grandma passed away in Costa Rica this year and we didn't have a service because of logistics and my bright idea. Nena (my grandma) used to take three buses to take us to Gateway Recreation Area Jacob Riis Beach (great jetty fishing). We spent out entire summers their. All the adults were Jamaican / Costa Rican and all the kids were first gen Americans. Immigrant communities are tight knit so we were together every weekend all summer long at Riis.

My idea was to have her memorial their and to do it Jamaican style, no tears just music, bbq, storytelling, dancing, and laughs in memory of. So I'm thinking setup. They have park grills there which I will throw some Grill Grates on and assign someone to do burger and dogs. I'm thinking a PBX or PBC (not sure which) and a Pk grill will allow me to do chicken and ribs and the PK for my cursed vegan cousins. 50 people that can bring sides.

hat do you all think of the set up? 1. park grill with grill grates 2. PK for green stuff and corn 3. Barrel for ribs and chicken. Think I'm good for about 40 people capacity wise and ease of use?

I think it's a fantastic idea! Your cooker lineup sounds like it would do the trick, and if not, nobody is going to care. The memories will be of the friends and family, not the food. And of course, sorry for your loss.

      Thank you!

You think you could do the ribs before the party and transfer them during the rest so you don’t have to do so much cooking? Ribs double wrapped in foil, stored in a cooler with towels and such, those should hold for a bit?

but sounds like a great way to celebrate your grandmother! And thanks for sharing you summer memories with us!

That's a great idea and I have a perfect sized cooler for it!

Sounds about right, I'd probably look on marketplace for a cheapo kettle style grill though since you're already hauling other cookers in. I'd rather use a kettle than the park grill AND what if the park grill is in use, or broke or whatever.

So, the elephant in the room: is this on the topless beach? Are you covering any fines for bottomless?
    Is topless burn insurance available?
