Its already seasoned just cook a pound of bacon on at after you heat it and clean it. Love mine! It too was a father's day gift. Got it last year. Wife sent me to Home Depot to pick up mulch that she ordered. Told me park in the store pick-up parking space and they will bring it to the car. The guy wheeled out a Weber Slate instead. She got me good!

I surprised her for mothers day. I flew our daughter in from North Carolina. Planed it a month ahead. It was tough as she keeps the accounts in order.

I have a HUGE favor! can you measure the width of the unit if the left table is folded down and if it is removed?! I am REALLY looking at this but need it to fit a particular wall space!

I will have to check if the left side folds down. I will get back to later with that information. Still working out the gas line hook up. My supply line that feeds my gasser, is a different size than this uses. and I am trying to go to home depot only once to resolve it.

Width with shelf folded is 58 3/8 . However you could removed the shelf it it is not needed (just remove brackets (#7) https://www.weber.com/US/en/help/sch...browse/1500641
the shelf when folded is about 6 inches
                    Hope this helps.

First cook completed. Bacon. Only picture is when first put bacon on. Even though I was using medium heat. Thing moved quickly. Had to get bacon off before it burned, and it smelled so good, I did not think of taking pictures. Click image for larger version

Thank you all for for the words of encouragement and congrats.
One more thing to learn, and that is what makes it fun. Lets keep cooking (out doors if possible)...

Since it's weber the top is carbon steel, correct? It looks good. I have the full insert for my Spirit. Cleaning is heat up if you let it cool down after the cook. Squirter bottle with water. It should sizzle. If you don't have, I suggest you get a scrapper. Scrape oil/grease and debris into the catcher. Once clean, wipe down. Paper towel or rags. Finally, after cool I squirt a light coat of avocado oil and wipe in.

Thank you for the tip. I got this scraper from amazon, (https://a.co/d/06bKratI) it seems to work nice, I can both pull and push with it. After the cook, I set the temp to low and did the water thing. I am guessing it is like deglazing a plan. I scraped as much as I could, then one more squirt of water and then paper towel wipe down turned off burners and avocado oil. However there is a lot of lint. One down many more to go...

I use paper but a fair amount use lintless rags. Personal choice.

Amazing gift from your wife! I love griddle cooking.

Tip - next time you are somewhere like Sam's or Costco, look for a big bag of Terry cloth towels/rags, You can get like 100 for $20. I pretty much sacrifice one per cook for cleaning the griddle. Much better than paper towels.

Well, the one thing you did NOT show us were the pancakes your wife requested! I hope you came through with those... Just saying!

I had a tough choice this morning. Cook a couple of tri-tips for dinner (and meal prep for the week) or pancakes. She got her pancakes, but they were cooked on the stove. She likes the tri-tip brisket style. So they have been on since 10 AM this morning and they have been in a stall for the last couple of hours. I just wrapped them and bumped the temp to 275 hoping they will be done in the next couple of hours.

Kascon11 it sounds to me like if you are smoking tri-tip, presumably on the smoker, that the griddle was wide open for use and coulda cranked out 100 pancakes in no time!

Back when I made big batches of pancakes every weekend for the kids, the uneaten ones got tossed into a zip lock freezer back with little squares of waxed paper between them. They microwaved right up for weekday breakfasts in 20-30 seconds.

That is one top tier griddle. I reviewed it and it is fantastic, best of the best. Congrats!
