    Blackstone add-on grill lids

Been looking for a Blackstone 36" griddle on FB Marketplace for awhile. Seems the one's with the hinged lids are always priced quite high, versus one's with the metal cover.

I'd like the idea of a hinged lid, and realized there's aftermarket lids out there that retro-fit. Based on the prices I see on FB, I could buy a used Blackstone with the cover, buy the retro-fit lid, and literally spend less money overall.

Anyone have any experience with these? Do they hold up well?

Here's the one I found: Hinged Aftermarket Lid

I wanted a hinged lid, but when I saw a new 36" without hinges for $199, I took the leap. Turns out it’s a non-issue for me. The fact that it never gets greasy offsets the slight inconvenience of taking it off and on.

      Another option: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DLNV8P6G...de26ad38b&th=1

Hopefully someone has used one of these and can testify to its value. I'd add one to my 36" Blackstone.

I have the original 36” with the front grease trough, and added the lid. It works great. It has two brackets to hang it off the back of the grill while cooking which is convenient. There is even a diamond plate version available. I have the metal cover, and then cover it with the Blackstone canvas cover that came with the griddle.
You don’t need no stinking hinges.

Same griddle here with same or very similar diamond plate cover. Works great although I did have to take a cutting wheel to the corner where the grease runs into the trap to get it to fit right. And the cover hanging from the back when cooking blocks any wind underneath the griddle surface which is a plus down here by the ocean.

There’s a video on the YT of a guy turning the lift off lid into a hinged lid. Seems to work pretty well for him. He did it with some hardware for $20 if I remember and an hours of time maybe. I have thought about doing this but it hasn’t been an issue at this point setting lid on the brackets on the back.

Could be a way for you to get the hinged lid if needed.

Just bought a silicone Mat for my 36", works great! Patio furniture cover and very careful removing and replacing.
Wanted an attached lid/cover, just could not cover the cost.

I replaced my non-hinged lid for my 28” Blackstone with this one. Very similar to the link you shared. Note that on this one, the hinge does not screw or bolt into the griddle. Rather, it is a “fork” that slides over the rear, upright edge of the griddle. Install took me less than 5 minutes. Then another 15 minutes to bag up the styrofoam and break down cardboard.

Here’s the video for rigging up your original hanging lid for a 36” Blackstone if anyone is interested.
