Okay. The kids want to know what I want for Father’s Day. They proposed a Blackstone Griddle. If you have one do you love it, like it, or rarely use it? What would you want from your kids if you had MCS syndrome and they asked what you wanted for Father’s Day?

I love my Blackstone. It’s great to have a griddle to add another cooking option. Breakfast, steak, pork chops and pork steak, fish, smash burgers, stir fry, thin sliced chicken breast…the list of possibilities goes on and on.

I have the big Camp Chef. Overkill? Absolutely. But I cannot believe how much I love that thing and I use it way more than expected. Not just me, either - one example - our family alternates holidays (as you do) and for Mother’s Day my brother in law said I’m cooking but can we be at your place so I can use the griddle?
We use it for everything, it’s surprisingly great for a hard sear after reverse-sear or sous-vide cooks. And if you’re making chopped cheeses or cheesesteaks for 6-8, nothing comes close. Or pancakes, or hash browns, or fried rice, fajitas, stir-fries, burritos….

Grilla Primate
Grilla Kong
Weber Kettle
Camp Chef Escape
Old Hickory Knives
More Cast Iron than I care to admit
For this discussion, I do not think brand is important. What I will say is if I had to choose only one cooker it would be a flat top. That is a wonderful gift. Happy Fathers Day.

ThermoWorks Remote Dual Probe Thermometer
ThermoPro TP-19 Instant Read Meat Thermometer

I didn’t know what I was missing till I got my griddle. Used it just tonight for a burger with bacon and sautéed onions, cooked all in one place at the same time……no smelling up the house. Getting a griddle is kind of like your first smart phone, you don’t know what you’re missing till you get one. Afterwards, you can’t live without it!

Smokin-It 3D
Weber Kettle with an SNS
Masterbuilt kettle that I call the $30 wonder grill
Bullet by Bull Grills gasser
Anova WiFi sous vide machine
Thermoworks Thermapen and Chef Alarm
I was at a friends house yesterday who has a 4 burner Blackstone. Man that thing was cool! I only have a stove top griddle but it would be cool to have a flat top griddle like a blackstone. Many on here have them and love them!
I just cooked stir fry on the wok…but a flat top would be nice to cook it all in one batch vs three like I usually do!
enjoy that special gift!

Currently own:
Weber 22 and 26 Kettle.
Regular gasser with rotisserie.
Custom built horizontal stick burner.
Custom built duel fuel "whole hog" cooker.
Many other tools of the trade.
I have three flat tops; 36" and 22" Blackstone and the Cuisinart 360. 22" is our primary camping grill/griddle. If you choose the flat top, despite brand, go with the 36" at least.
Several here in the club have purchased the Pit Boss griddle that has the ceramic top and they seem pleased. Least worth a look.

Congratulations on raising some great kids. I only get to use the son in law’s blackstone once in a while. The last time was making Rubin sandwiches. We had rye bread toasting, Swiss cheese melting, and pastrami being warmed at the same time. It’s a sandwich making machine. They are so versatile. I don’t know if a Blackstone or one of the others fits your needs best, but you’re about to make some good food.

36" Blackstone here. Love love love it.
Used it tonight to cook going-away smashburgers for my niece. She's going back home to her folks' in the Caribbean for the summer before she comes back to move off to Oklahoma State University in August - my son is leaving then too, for the same place. We'll be doing a number of send-off cooks this summer and I have little doubt the Blackstone will be used many times this summer.
