Members Mark 22 inch table top

My wife purchased this for an upcoming camping trip for 99 bucks. I bought an adapter for my big tanks and a cheap Blackstone griddle kit for it. Long term plan is to get an outdoor prep table for this and my PKGO to be used on.

unboxing it, the base is kinda flimsy but it happily supports the griddle top. There are no sharp edges but this thing screams made in China. I permanently removed the match stick thingy as there is no built in location for it to live but otherwise I put it together as indicated in the paperwork... installed 4 screw in legs and 2 leveling nut things.

The griddle top does have some antiwarping pieces horribly welded on and out of the box its kinda warped and the surface is VERY coarse. I intend to sand the crap out of it and reseason after my wife's camping trip.

It was super hard to season because of the rough surface, extremely uneven heating, and the multiple warped spots... but I got it close enough. look at the inconsistencies on these corners, 2 are not mated and welded very well and 2 are over welded.

The griddle surface pic was my first coat of oil, it was so rough it ate up the paper towel, I had to scrape all that off and then apply oil using my silicone basting brush so no fliggins were seasoned in.

So then we get to the woes of seasoning which started yesterday. 5 cycles in and these bugs decided to commit suicide en mass constantly... I gave up and scraped it down hard to reseason today. Between storms I got 2 seasoning cycles and then did some bacon... half way through 0% chance of anymore rain almost became a grease fire...

With some quick help from my wife who very quickly got me an umbrella I finished the bacon, waited for the storm to pass and made then myself a burger.

Even leveled to the max, liquid still goes to the bottom right instead of the bottom left, and due to the warping it's very hard to scrape that liquid to the drain. The only leveling screws are on the back corners and they don't work very well.

(Bonus pic showing the warped nature of this thing)

So anyway, I'll withhold judgement until I can sand the thing down and reseason for a smoother surface. However I'm glad my wife got this. It's proven that my dreams of adding a quality stainless griddle to the deck weren't meant to be. Between the bugs and rain griddling isn't for me (until we get a screened in covered porch some day). We'll use this thing until it rots away.

I use a Lifetime adjustable height personal table from Lowes, was about $40, light and stows easily.
I only have the one burner Blackstone though

I'm interested in your table, but it looks pretty lightweight. How much can it hold?

Max Good It is very sturdy, all steel framing with plastic top. I can actually sit on it but would not recommend it as a chair! 😁see pics I added (as you can see I don’t read labels….😂)

I've been testing more tabletop units and they don't always send a stand. May give this one a try. Thanks!

Ouch. I don’t know if I’d be keeping something that pissed me off that much, but maybe it’s one of those things that you use for a few times and toss as it did the job for the specific party. Dang.

To be fair, 2 of the big issues were weather and bugs... Never had that issue with my old gassers or my MAK but they have lids... For the price the only major concern I have is the warped top. I can deal with uneven heat zones and I can sand down the rough surface. I'll just use it for a year or 2 until it falls apart (which I suspect it will)

What do you intend to sand it with?

I have a Black and Decker rotary unit with some metal rated sand paper, not sure how it will work on steel but I've used it to revive a cast iron pan in the past with great results. While it does have a corner sander I dont think I have metal rated paper for that attachment, but not as worried about the corners anyway.

oh boy, I thought you were posting about a table top, not a griddle 🙄
        that’s why I posted about a table

Thanks for the review, I've been curious about these cheap griddles.

No offense intended my friend but would have sent that thing back, spent a few dollars more and forget all that. The China unit as I will name it, is to pay retail and receive a mess. Too much work for me!

It's Sams club, we'll see how my wife enjoys (or doesn't) using it this weekend while camping. If it does the job for her there we'll keep it until it falls apart. If not we'll return it I'm not too worried either way. Now if I had bought it and it was warped before use, yeah it'd be going back. But it's not mine
