Doing the burn in now. It took about 3 hours to assemble.
These are built like a freakin M1 Abrams. Portable? Yeah, right. Portable like a BGE. This is getting locked in place.
Everything went together pretty straightforward, no issues. I did manage to put a nice little scratch in the coating, about 3/4†long. I’m pretty certain that won’t be an issue. Also, that little scratch on the leg was there upon unboxing. I’m going to ignore it. I can touch that up later.
The coating seems a little different from non stick skillets, more like a thin porcelain. My guess is about 5-6 years of hard use, with proper care, Maybe more.
In an interesting twist, Mrs Mosca has requested meatloaf tonight, so first cook will be tomorrow or Thursday.

I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
I am jealous. I searched far and wide for one of those a couple months ago with none to be found. I ended up getting the standard 3 burner for quite a bit more $$$$. I love it though. No regrets. Enjoy!!

First cook, breakfast. I was concerned that 3 burners might be too big, but it’s just about right.
Scrambled eggs seem pretty simple, but I want to figure out an omelet. There’s a local diner that lets the eggs flow on the griddle, then rolls them up with the toppings inside like a nut roll. I used just cheese. It tore in the middle, but not bad for first try.
😁😁😁 I get those 3lb packs of Wright’s from Sam’s Club and do 1 1/2lbs at a time. Then we have it for BLTs, grilled cheese with bacon, burger toppings, salad sprinkles, etc.
I’ve been making bacon in the oven for years. I forgot how the texture is different when it’s fried.

How you liking this Pit Boss….if there’s anything that drives the MCS for me, it’s one of these. And while waiting for our washer today at Lowes, I got to look at all the Blackstone griddles and…meh.. perhaps the people putting them together don’t give a rats….. but they seemed like they were off.
and the wife even said maybe it’s something to look into further haha….
I've found most of the stuff at my Lowes to be extra wobbly, the folks putting things together just don't seem to care lately (last 3 years or so). The first Weber Smokefire I saw was at Lowes local to me and I thought it was super cheap because of the wiggle. Saw one at a different store and it was still underwhelming for the non-sale price but much more stable. Just depends on the store unfortunately

About 95% of my outdoor cooking is now done on the griddle. All that charcoal I bought on sale is going to be an even bigger bargain next year because I’ll still have it!
In the griddle world, the big battle right now is between ceramic top and rolled steel. Although I’m completely satisfied with the ceramic top, many people who have them have had issues, and are not.
barelfly Not necessarily the space - that's OK. It is the heat. On my 2-burner, the right side, right over the burner, gets to 450*-460* max, while the left over the oval burner gets to 370*-380* (maybe). It gets the job done except for really crisp crusts, but I would prefer much higher temps to work with. 3-burner folks have reported 600*-700* except for the far left side. I would prefer that.

Wow…I’m kinda surprised about some of these problems! Sorry to hear about your rust issues. I know that all of us here bought the heat resistant nylon utensils for the griddle. And I’m pretty sure that most of us here, know how to treat the griddle with a little care. I’m wondering if it’s a manufacturing issue?
Mine is just the lid; no big deal, I’m glad they replaced it though. I going to keep the old one, strip the copper paint off, and repaint it in BGE/Weber green, I think.

Had no idea PB was a ceramic top. I haven’t researched this at all yet, but just figured it was steel. Hmmm. Now to dive into som research.
I did enjoy the video linked above. Makes sense and also makes me wonder about the coated flat top I have had for years, I don’t like cooking on it and prefer the lodge flat top.
I appreciate everyone’s points that have been added in. Thanks again.
