spent an hour or so giving it a good scrub from stem to stern.
Got the worst of the rust removed from the firebox. Cleaned off all the ash that was stuck everywhere. Wire brushed the charcoal grate, and gave the whole thing a good pressure wash. May, or may not, use a wi Click image for larger version

leaving the griddle in the vinegar bath for another day, then will do the same for the cast iron grill grate.
Hopefully will have it all finished and ready for a cook next weekend. 👍

I had worked as a high end remodel contractor 40 plus years and I know for a fact that that class of people would discard items like this rather then getting their hands dirty!
              More money then brains!

ID:	1296638 Here's where we are..
2 days soak in a vinegar bath, followed by scrubbing with #3 steel wool and a wire brush. Washed thoroughly with soap and water..
much better than where it was, but still needs a little work...imo.
Gonna try a wire wheel attachment on the drill next...

Make sure you wear a full face shield please. Having to pull little wires out of your face is never fun if one let’s go.

I think because it's meant to be used with the small propane bottles that would rest on the table. This one had an adapter to use a full size tank. I'm going to try to adjust so the hose runs down the front.
I just hooked up as is for today to make sure everything works, and to get it seasoned
