    Any regrets on a Blackstone?

MCS is hitting HARD right now. I got two meals planned for the weekend that would really benefit from a flattop griddle. I could of course use a cast iron pan on the stove but I am planning on 48 burger patties for the Super Bowl and that would take a while. A Blackstone would make much quicker work of it.

This is the model I was thinking of: https://www.acehardware.com/departme...grills/8037617

The Camp Chef is tempting but right now the Blackstone is winning out because I can pick it up at my local Ace. Anyone have any regrets on their Blackstone? Anyone want to try and talk me out of it? I have wanted one for a while, could definitely use it this weekend, and just got a bigger than expected bonus from work. So it kind of seems like a no-brainer right now.

Very much agreed with @ComfortablyNumb on both of his observations.

Nope. I love my Blackstone. I got this model a couple of years ago at Walmart.

        Regrets? We've had a few.
Sat on one, the pants were ruined.
We did... what we had to do
We took them off, party continued....

          BWahahahah... HERE?

For things like 48 burgers, the Blackstone seems ideal. How do you like your new one?

My only regret is that I didn’t buy my Blackstone sooner! I’ve had my 36” stainless steel model for just about three years. It quickly became - and remains - my most used cooker!

You can knock out all those burgers in no time…if you tried to do that many in a cast iron pan you’ll have to start cooking them on Saturday!

Get the ‘Stone…you will love it!

My only regret is getting the 36" model. I've moved a couple of times and it just takes up a massive amount of space with the two shelves. To the point I don't use one shelf ever. It's fantastic to have the space on the griddle while cooking as I can push stuff to the side to keep warm, but I wish I had gone smaller. I'm looking to sell mine actually to get a table top one.

During the summer I use it at least twice a week, normally more as I like cooking breakfast on it. While I love the smell of bacon/sausage I don't like it 8 hours later

But for any meal bigger than that it is just too small. And therefore I don’t use it all that much. So go as big as your space and budget allows.

None here, use it at least once a week.

I have a big one. Got it cheap on sale. When I need to do a lot of bacon or fajitas or burgers or veggies I fire it up. With my crew that means I have to have something like this. Doesn’t get hot enough to sear a steak quickly but it is solid

Jfrosty27 I agree. I think the perfect size is in the mid 20s but I worry about only having two burners. I normally go as big as possible on cookers as there's nothing worse than realizing you need more space. I cook for two though haha. Actually looking to downsize almost everything I have in some fashion. I got my parents the 22" and converted it to run on the large propane tanks. I think it's a great size for those that don't do large parties often; those couple inches over the 17" are critical IMO. Now if you're having a lot of people over and planning on doing large meals go the 36" - space will never be an issue.

Edit: Part of the issue with the smaller ones is they are also not as deep. Unless that's changed?

ComfortablyNumb yeah, I like the "keep warm" space. I will have to look into a 3 burner 28"... That will save me a lot of room as I'm going to turn it into a table top.

I had the 3 burner blackstone, while it was an awesome griddle and cooked just fine I ended up selling it to a friend because is was just a flattop griddle and I personally needed something that allowed me to do different things.
I ended up with a CC 3 burner cooktop with a griddle to cover two of the burners that I can take off and put away when not using. This allows me to use any of my cookware on the stove. I can use a dutch oven and fry fish on one burner and have a pot of beans going on the burner next to it. They also offer other items to go with it like a grill or a pizza oven.
For me I just needed something a little more versatile.

Regrets? Never. Not even a little bit. The only thing is go large or go home! You want that 4 burner 36 inch model. Even if you think "that looks larger than what I need" you are WRONG! It is not too large.

AFTER getting the 4 burner if you think "you know what, a smaller one would be nice sometimes" go ahead and get one. I did. The 22 inch blackstone is for my hurricane kit and those times when I just want a flattop the size of my stove and almost as heavy to use indoors.

I’d have to agree. There have been plenty of times I only use half of my 36 but I still have never wished I bought a smaller one instead. In addition to, maybe.

Andrrr I always use all 36 inches. Even if only half of the burners are on, you have the hotter side and the less hot side. VERY useful. The smaller griddles can't really do that. At least not as good as the 36 inch can. I use metal domes on the less hot side to keep stuff warm, or the less hot side can be used to toast hamburger buns, keep BBQ sauce warm, or whatever. ALWAYS a way to use the whole cook top no matter how large it is

SmokeyGator In full agreement there. Always nice to have a large indirect area when the timing issues arise. Go big!

I have the Camp Chef FTG900, and do not feel you will regret having a larger griddle rather than a smaller one. You can always just turn on 2 instead of 4 burners, but if you need to flip 48 burgers, you will be doing it in shifts on the smaller griddle.

My nephew was really hooked on getting a Camp Chef FTG600 after seeing mine, but was only finding it for about $500 online (prices are high now, and very few local sellers of Camp Chef stuff). I steered him towards a Blackstone 36 (with lid!) at his local Walmart for about half the price (under $300 anyway), and available for pickup, and he has been happy with the purchase.

I say get it, and enjoy it.

Oh - and while I love my Camp Chef - mostly because #1 SIZE - its a huge 6 burner 900 sq inch beast - and #2 easier to set up more zones with 6 burners - and #3 I prefer the front grease collection and grease cup - what I do NOT like is the lack of accessories for the Camp Chef griddles. You can buy a Blackstone with a hinged lid, or buy one as an add on from Blackstone. For Camp Chef you have to go to third party sellers on places like Etsy and pay $150 to $200 for that add on hard top. That was the other thing that swung my nephew to the Blackstone - he was also saving $150ish on a hard top that would be a separate expense on the Camp Chef flat top.
