Panhead John I did own the 17” mainly because I also cook for either me or my wife and I. I upped to the Blackstone 22” which has 2 burners which I find really helpful to be able to have one side really hot and the other side turned down to keep stuff warm. Really works well when cooking multiple ideas like stir fry or fajitas, or burgers with buns warming, etc. Also comes with a foldable stand, although I have mine on a storage cart with a metal top to place it on.

I can understand about being compulsive with a griddle cleaning. It’s a flat surface vs grates which are spaced apart. I would be too. Too much residue is left on a griddle vs grates.

Yeah. But they are really easy to clean and reseason. Get it hot, hit it with some water, wipe it off and wipe it down with some vegetable oil.
Oh and use some good heat resistant gloves.

tbob4 You’re not alone about the cleaning, that was most of reason mine didn’t last.

My 2 cents.....I had a 3 burner blackstone griddle....really liked it but well....it was just a griddle. I sold it to a friend and ended up following some advice of fellow amazingribs folks and bought a camp chef 3 burner cooktop. Each burner is 30,000 btu's, came with a griddle that covers 2 burners and leaves the third one open for other things.
I really love this thing and actually use it way more than I ever thought I would and more than I did just the plain griddle. I'm hoping to get the pizza oven later this year which will bring it's usage up even more.

Panhead John Here is a simple solution: 1) Get married to a 35 yr old (preferably female but your choice) with 4-5 teenagers, thus needing a large griddle. 2) Buy a house with a large patio to hold large griddle. 3) Buy whatever large griddle you want. 4) Spend the rest of your life cooking for the wife, kids, friends, grandkids, etc. Problem solved.

Clark I was loving your idea….up until the 4-5 teenagers part. It was all downhill after that.

Panhead John I dunnu Clark maybe on to something, some of those 35 yr old divorced from a rich lawyer Yummy Mummies aren't all that bad.
Think of all the knowledge you could pass down to her brood, how to shot gun beers, using double record albums to get the seeds outta your weed, hangover cures, wallpapering cheques, armed robbery, always run from police....y'know real life stuff....
Pretty soon they'll be in juvie and you and sugar dumplin can griddle away.

NEWS FLASH!….PJ BUYS NEW GRIDDLE…..NO ONE CARES!

Well, I went to my Wally World today and found the 17” Blackstone w/side burner in stock. I almost decided against it. First off, this SOB weighs 66 lbs! Now I’m thinking I’m gonna need a HD cart on wheels, instead of buying their own foldable stand. Also, I FINALLY was able to find the overall assembled dimensions. They were on the box. There wasn’t squat about it on their website. You’d think Blackstone should know people need overall dimensions and weight when buying a product like this. The weight wasn’t listed online either, had to find it on the box. Also, there ain’t jacksh!t mentioned about any type of hose and regulator included or not with it, neither on the box or their website!

I had to go ahead and buy a hose/regulator just in case. I didn’t want to put it together and then find out I gotta go back to the store for one. So far I’m not a happy camper with them. I sure hope this product is better than their marketing skills.

So, I’m gonna put this together today and will report back later. In the meantime, does anyone have a recommendation for a cart on wheels capable of holding 66 lbs. and has overall dimensions of around 36” wide and at least 26” deep? Thanks

Jim, Had what all the time? The griddle? I just bought it this morning and took the pics to see if it fit in my space. I didn’t have it until I posted the pics above. I’m not taking it out of the box until I can find a stand for it.

Panhead John the griddle comes WITH a hose and regulator for use with a standard 20 pound propane tank. I discovered this in reading some of the reviews on the Blackstone website, where one guy complained about it - he was expecting it to use the 1 pound throw-away tanks for some reason, and was upset that it included a standard hose and regulator.

Dan Deter I use one of those hoses so that I don't have to use the little 1 pound tanks on my Performer. I'll have to remember I can use it with my Coleman stove too.

jfmorris Out of curiosity, do you recall how long the 1 pound tank lasts on your performer?

Attjack when using the Performer weekly, the 1 pounder lasts several months. When I got the griddle I switched back to the 1 pound tanks on the Performer to free up a 20 pounder, snd I’ve probably only swapped tanks twice in a year. The key is to remember to turn the gas off after about 5 minutes. You don’t need it much longer than that.

Panhead John here is an adapter that lets you hook a 1 pound disposable propane bottle to the end of the normal hose and regulator, in place of a standard 20# tank:

Thanks so much Jim for all the helpful answers you always give! Not just me, but other members who ask questions too, you always come through when possible. It’s not gone unnoticed that you will also research questions if needed and provide helpful links. We have a lot of others who do that as well. It really helps out people with topics they’re not that familiar with. 👍👍

That being said, I did a little research about the 1 gallon tanks, they really don’t last that long. Since I’m gonna have to get a wheeled cart to put this beast on, I’ll find one that has a shelf below, so maybe I’ll just put the 20 pound tank on that.

I have an adapter to fill 1lb tanks from a 20 lb tank. Its a pain in the but, and you can't get a full fill, but it avoids tossing them away.
