Succumbed to MCS - new 36" Blackstone

So I've been eyeballing for 3 years, the times I've tried to get one they've been sold out.

Had some friends visiting this weekend from out of the country, they were dying to try my smashburgers. So, I used it as an excuse to pick up this baby.

Spent like 3h in the 95-degree heat putting it together, began seasoning with Blackstone's recommended stuff, did something like 6 or 7 layers, and it looked pretty well coated. A little harder to get the front done well, it doesn't get AS hot as the rear, and I didn't want to leave it on ultra-high on all 4 burners for the full hour or more it took to get seasoned, but overall, I think it was pretty good.

    Looks good, eh???

So now, for the first cook!

Cook went great, man with smashburgers in general and with this griddle especially.... you gotta have your stuff ready to GO! It goes SO freaking quick - of course, it's great for the guests, they get piping hot burgers right off the griddle, but for the cook, it's a bit of a nerve-wracking 10 minutes. But it works great!

I think I'm in love. I really love it. Easy clean up, too, just quick and easy scraping everything into the back, a quick wipe down with a papertowel and it's awesome. I can see myself using this a lot.

I got the model with the built-in metal cover from Lowe's, it was $399, but they knocked of $50 because the box was buggered up and it looked pretty bad. Threw in a gas cylinder refill, the cover, the scraper/spatula kit (I LOVE their spatulas!) and the seasoning grease/oil/whatever ($10), everything came out just under $500 tax and all.

I'm in love, though, seriously love it.

Looks excellent. I've been on the brink of buying a flattop for a while now.

Nice pickup. The 36” is great. I’ve loved mine from day 1 as well and you’re going to be surprised on just how many reasons you’ll find to use it.

I have come to believe there is no cure for MCS and it is contagious.

Good call picking that up! I predict you will keep finding more and more uses for that griddle. I know I sure did.

Big congrats to you! I got a 36" a few months ago, when I could finally find one, and I'm loving it. I've cooked more burgers and bacon since I got it than in my entire life. Neighbors bring me meat to cook! Here's 3 pounds of bacon that I cooked Saturday night for BLTs for a gathering of 4 families and us. No time for photos after this one as things go quickly, as you know!

That’s it, the clincher : "I’ve cooked more ……bacon since I got it than in my entire life". Everyone should want one now, for that singular reason! 👍👍👍

Wowee. Now that is a pornographic pic. We need a NSFW tag.

Outstanding! Ya find a reason to get a big honkin cooker to cook two burgers. You are the man of the week! 🕶

Well, that was the end of the 2nd batch. I think I did 9 burgers overall, mostly doubles with 2 singles? I dunno, something like that. I got a men's group that meets once a week, we will likely be here at my place a little more often now...

I gotta think of something for tonight... our friends were supposed to leave today to go back to TX before flying back home to Trinidad, but apparently I think will be staying another night.

So I gotta come up with another reason to cook on this thing tonight...

                        Philly cheese steaks.

Or another family favorite at my house: grilled boneless, skinless chicken thighs with adobo seasoning, for chicken burrito bowls. I like to pound the thighs to a uniform thickness before seasoning and adding to the griddle.

Either of the above requires very little advance planning.

Do an asian style stir fry. There is a great stir fried rice recipe on the Blackstone website that is super easy. Then add some protein like chicken and thin cut steak, along with some teriyaki or soy sauce. Tip: Add the sugary stuff like teriyaki AFTER the cook is mostly done. Otherwise the sugars tend to burn on the griddle.

You can make a decent pizza on it too. I get pre made, small sized pizza crust, put sauce, cheese, and toppings on it. Use a cheese melting dome that's been pre heated on the griddle. Straight onto the griddle, cover with the dome. We can each ( 3 of us) have our own custom pizza in no time.

Very nice. Nothing like a flat top. Congratulations!
