What do you think of the this?

Apparently the BioLite FirePit has been around for awhile but I just found out about it. It burns wood like a firepit and apparently uses airflow to minimize smoke. The intriguing thing is it can also use charcoal to cook steaks, burgers, kabobs, chicken, etc. Looks like you can get griddles for it. Runs for 30 hours on a single charge. Not sure if there is temperature control or not. What do you think?

It looks nifty, but where does the smoke go? I absolutely don’t need it though.

Wonder if you could build something like that…

I'm having trouble sourcing material for the X-Ray mesh body

I think it looks pretty cool. Basically a fan stoking the fire through some pipes that direct air to the full length of the portable fire pit. It does through forced air what some of the other "smokeless" fire pits do with their double walled design and air outlets around the top of the pit - gets O2 to the top of the fire to improve combustion of particulates and reduce smoke greatly.

I like the design of this one with the grill grate and ability to use charcoal, but have no specific need for it. The company is reputable though, as Rachio has been making Wifi sprinkler controllers for years. Been waiting (and waiting) for my 25 year old Rainbird timer to die so that I can justify getting a Rachio and have wifi/app control of the sprinklers.

I have the Rachio controller and I will say it paid for itself the first year we had it. It varies the watering schedule according to weather in our area and doesn't water if it's too windy, hot, or wet. It accesses a local weather source and I have found it to be very accurate. It's uncanny how well it does in skipping days or setting the schedule based on current conditions. It varies the schedule according to the zone you live in and month of the year. And it has wifi control. Go for it!

bep35 yeah - those are all reasons I want one. The ole Rainbird timer has no concept of whether it has rained, or is raining, and just follows a set schedule. I cannot remember how many times I've made a dash through the rain to the end of the house where it lives (in a weather proof box) and turned off the sprinklers. Then you gotta remember to turn them off before things get brown again.

I bought a Rachio for the WiFi. Not fiddling with the box constantly is a huge plus and being able to check if each zone is working by standing outside instead of running between the yard and garage is easily worth the cost alone. I only turned it on last week so not sure about the Smart Control yet but optimistic. $150 off Amazon seemed pretty good for 8 zones.
