I replaced the charcoal pan early this morning. I had visions of drilling out screws and heat\ cool corroded hardware.
Nothing could have been further from them truth. Disassembling and reassembling took about 30 minutes. I think it took me longer to locate my needle nose pliers.
The air gap is between the charcoal side subframe and the removable drip pan at the rear of the unit.
The gap is about a half an inch, plus or minus. I can see really not good way to seal it, save stuffing it with aluminum foil. There is a u channel at the rear inside above the drip pan making riveting a piece of metal to the back of the unit a problem.
It's starting to rain (praise the lord) this morning putting working outside in jeopardy.
