Lid vent placement on Weber kettle

I got mixed answers on a google search… so I’ve got my charcoal baskets on my right hand side and my ribs on my left. I assume the lid vent goes over top of the meat to get the smoke to roll across?

edit: or is it better to do the baskets on each side?

Yes. If the charcoal is all on one side, position the vents opposite so that smoke has to cross the meat to escape.

After your cook turns out awesome…..maybe consider getting an SnS insert. Will do a better job of concentrating all the coals in one area, and it will give you longer cook times. The baskets have holes all around and will burn through the coals quicker.
