I have a maybe 2 or 3 year old Weber Go Anywhere portable gas grille that is the first replacement for one I bought in the mid -80s to use on an over-the rail bracket on my 31' boat. The first one gave great service, but eventually needed replacement. I don't have the boat now, but I do take it with me in my travel trailer.
Well, we're getting ready to head out a couple of weeks ago, and when I checked on the mini-gasser, the cooking grate was disgusting, my bad for putting it away dirty. I went off to the local big box hardware stores nearby which both carry Weber-branded replacement parts, but no luck on the mini-grate.
This is where it gets bad. Weber has replaced the wire grate with a pressed enamel-coated wavy shaped thing with a bunch of holes in it that replaces both the flavorizer bar and the grate with this all-in-one thing. This grille was about $50, looked cheaply made, and just didn't inspire confidence. I ended up buying a Char-Broil imitation of the Weber for $20 figuring that it won't last long, but expected I could find a replacement grate for my almost-new Weber.
I don't think they sell a replacement! So now I have a perfectly good Weber that needs a grate, and a crappy Char-Broil that will probably disolve in a year. I checked on the Weber site, and the reviews of the new version of the Go Anywhere seem to agree that Weber blew it on this neat little mini table-top grill.
Sorry - just had to vent.
