I think Weber blew it !

I have a maybe 2 or 3 year old Weber Go Anywhere portable gas grille that is the first replacement for one I bought in the mid -80s to use on an over-the rail bracket on my 31' boat. The first one gave great service, but eventually needed replacement. I don't have the boat now, but I do take it with me in my travel trailer.

Well, we're getting ready to head out a couple of weeks ago, and when I checked on the mini-gasser, the cooking grate was disgusting, my bad for putting it away dirty. I went off to the local big box hardware stores nearby which both carry Weber-branded replacement parts, but no luck on the mini-grate.

This is where it gets bad. Weber has replaced the wire grate with a pressed enamel-coated wavy shaped thing with a bunch of holes in it that replaces both the flavorizer bar and the grate with this all-in-one thing. This grille was about $50, looked cheaply made, and just didn't inspire confidence. I ended up buying a Char-Broil imitation of the Weber for $20 figuring that it won't last long, but expected I could find a replacement grate for my almost-new Weber.

I don't think they sell a replacement! So now I have a perfectly good Weber that needs a grate, and a crappy Char-Broil that will probably disolve in a year. I checked on the Weber site, and the reviews of the new version of the Go Anywhere seem to agree that Weber blew it on this neat little mini table-top grill.

Sorry - just had to vent.

We have one we have used for several years, need new flavor bar and grate, but scored a webber Q off craigslist and love it, the Go Anywhere was great as we cooked complete meals on it. This is for the RV use.

Here is an aftermarket grate for your Weber. A little spendy at $40... But would bring your grill back to life!

I have to take back some of my venting.

Weber email support came through, and I have a replacement grate coming.

Now, I have to convince She Who Holds the Budget that I need to add a 22" or 26" kettle to the deck so I can get a SnS !!
