Replacement for Weber Genesis II E-310. Used Summit S-490 or New Broil King S490 Pro?

So I was able to Snag a Genesis II E-310 last year for $350, but have been pretty disappointed with it's high heat ability and general build quality. Basically I am looking for my "Forever Grill" and looking to spend around $1k.

Right now I can get the Broil King for $980 and the used Summit for $800. Both check all the boxes in terms of features and build quality but I just wanted to see what other people thought.

    Thanks for any input!

I have a Weber Summit S-470 that's been going strong for about 5 years now. It's been a great work horse that is well built to last. If you can get a used one in good condition for about $800 you may want to give it a shot. I believe new ones go for around $1800.

Summit all the way. I paid 700 used for mine. Great quality from a great company.

I hear mixed reviews on the Broil Kings (both locally and online), and feel that Weber has a higher build quality - they just killed performance with the Genesis II line, along with moving the Genesis production from USA to China with the new series. If a used Summit is available and in really good shape, I would consider it. That said, if you are willing to roll the dice on the Broil King they seem to have great searing performance. I just don't think it will be a "forever" grill.

My son is expecting me to give him my 2002 Genesis 2 burner when he moves out in January. That grill was made in the USA and is still going strong, and I just put Grillgrates on it last year. I'll be shopping for something to replace it, or I might just buy him a 3 burner Broil King so I can let him be the guinea pig (cuy anyone?) and keep the made in USA Weber until it dies.

Thanks for all the feedback. Here are some pictures of the used Summit...for being stainless Steel there seems to be awful lot of rust color going on there.

Per the person selling it "Was left by my recent renters. There were there only for 6 months. I never used it."

Sounds like there might be some negotiating room here to get a deal.

UPDATE - Apparently I can't link to photo albums for some reason as both Google Photos and Imgur didn't work. Regardless I posted a similar question on the Weber Forums and it was a unanimous hard pass. Apparently the Summits have some real issues with rust due to the materials used and everyone recommended sticking with prior versions of the Genesis.
