Anyone build in their Weber Spirit (or other stand alone gas grill)?
I've built a new outdoor kitchen and am in the countertop phase (well, roof first, then counters). I'm thinking I want to replace my old 4 burner gas grill with a Weber Spirit 2 or 3 burner grill as I use charcoal most of the time. I'm envisioning removing the base and side tables and framing the countertop around it. So I'm curious if anyone here has done that. I would love to see pictures if you have.
I'm also open to choosing a different grill if anyone has recommendations.
Looks nice. I would love to have a setup like that. Another thing to think about is just putting a 4 burner cook top out there or a small griddle.
Yeah that's a possibility. Part of the reason I went kind of big is that my house is over 100 years old built back when they didn't make the kitchens very big.
My current plan is portable burners. I have something similar to this, and this. Those might do it for me, but I can always drop a cooktop into the counter later.
Oh and I recently learned here on the forum about the Arteflame grill insert. That will end up being my griddle, BriggsBBQ. Maybe a griddle for the gas grill too for the ability to get griddling quickly. We'll see about that.
There's a Facebook page called Weber Grill Tables, you'll see all sorts of different setups there. From what I've seen most people seems to box around the freestanding grill rather than try to custom install.

I checked out that page. Good stuff. Mostly kettles though. You have a point about framing in the BBQ rather thank fully building it in.
I was at the store today looking at the Weber Sprit 2 burners in person. They seem nice. I think I'm going to try to pick up a used one though. The Genesis grill are a big step up though?

I just ordered the Spirit E-330. I get the sense that Weber will release new versions of the Spirit grills for 2018, similar to what they did with Genesis this year. Last fall Lowe's/HD dropped the price of the Genesis grills by $100, presumably to clear out inventory, and they've just done the same with Spirit ($50 vs $100). I kicked myself for not grabbing an 'old' model Genesis whilst they were still available, and decided I didn't want to miss out on a Spirit before they disappear.
Now that I've acquired a Weber Spirit I'm having second thoughts about building it in. It fits nicely next to my pizza oven. You never know what might happen in the future though.
I think you're right. I'll likely build a full counter on the back wall and cut in a sink. After that I'll use the hell out of it and see what I think.
