I almost Chucked my Gas Grill in the Alley.

    Back story:

About a year and some months ago I bought a used Weber Genesis Gas Grill on Craig’s list for $75.00. I replaced the grates, burners, flavorizer bars for about another $100 or so. So I am in it for less than $200.00, still not a bad deal.

The Front story went something like this a few days ago:

Troy: Linda!!(my wife) This gas grill is a piece of junk!! I’m chuckin’ it in the alley. Let the junk guys have it.

Linda: I like that grill. What do you mean? Why?

Troy: I have a brand new tank of gas and this thing is hardly working. It’s been on for 20 minutes and is hardly hot!! I’s so frustrated with this grill, it does this fairly often. I have way too much time and money going into this second hand grill anyway. I’m done!!Charcoal grills always work, I’m going to Home Depot and buy the Weber 26. I’ve always wanted it.

Linda: Did you read the instructions?

Troy: Instructions?? Of course I read the instructions. I always read the instructions. I install commercial door hardware for a living. My motto is ‘Always read the instructions.'
    (I never read any instructions)

Linda: Don’t chuck it in the alley just yet.

Troy: Gas on, spark, heat, gas off. How hard can it be?

Linda: Did you ever hear of bypass mode??

    Troy: Bypass what??

Linda: Yes, bypass mode. A safety feature built into the gas valve in case there is a leak or valve left open when you turned the gas on. READ HERE!

Troy: Hmmm, I guess I missed that part.

    Linda: LOL

Troy: Honey, Did I ever tell you how much I like that gas grill.

Anyway this was in my email this morning. Never gonna let her go!!

Buddy, once you've had the 26 it's hard going back. Linda Rocks and there is plenty of good grub ahead. Don't forget the SnS.

I don't think my grill has a bypass mode. So how do you bypass the bypass?

JCGrill, I have a vague memory of reading something about the "bypass mode" on the Used Char-Broil I bought❓ My Memory was the 2nd Thing to Go❓ But I think if You Depressurize the Whole System it Will Reset❓ 😚😚🤔😚😚

When a burner valve is open, or of there is a leak when you open the propane tank valve, the regulator will emit only a little bit of gas because it will detect the difference in pressure. To reset, close all valves, wait a few seconds, and then open the propane valve, wait a few seconds the regulator will detect the back pressure from the burners being closed and no leak.. then you are good to go. Until a few days ago I never knew a such thing existed.
