I bought the griddle insert for my Weber Genesis II and I use it so much I can't remember the last time I had the grill gates in.
But, I long for a Blackstone. The Weber griddles have the grease hole in the corner and it's constantly flaming. But worse, Weber has the gas vents in the front so you need long gloves to prevent a burned forearm.
I noticed the smaller Spirit griddle insert has the same vents in the front.
I'm thinking of changing to the smaller griddle as a fix. Has anyone had experience with it?
Have no experience with those. You should check out Littlegriddle.com. I bought an insert for my Genesis and it works great. Take out the grates and the griddle sits on the flavorizer bars.

Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
I have the carbon steel full insert for the 3 burner Spirit. I have no issue with the grease hole in the back where the grease pan is located. I'm wearing gloves so the heat isn't an issue. Weighing 47 lbs for this old fart is a challenge but I manage.

i know…I am no help. But…my dad has an insert for his Weber, the carbon steel insert (not sure which Weber he has) but that’s all he cooks on. He loves it and hasn’t had any complaints about it.
