    Weber Spirit E-325

Am thinking of this rig for our mountain cabin, to replace a 25+ year rig which I can't remember the name of, but which is on its last legs. I have a special fork up there. with the middle 2 tines bent in an L shape to adjust grill cover opening, for heat control. Wrecked one fork, till I got it right.. Have a big propane tank there, with a line to the grill. The boost burner feature sounds good, not yet reviewed here.

Any observations? Got to stick with gas for fire reasons.

yakima I have the e-330. I believe other than a $100 price difference the 330 has a side burner and a sear station. It's another burner in between the right and middle burner. It does help but don't get it for that function. I wanted the side burner as I had it on my Genesis that I melted down. As a gas grill, I'm very happy with it.

RichieB Would you mind sharing the story of the Genesis "melting down"? Sounds like it may be interesting.

Clark here's the original post on the event. Yea, interesting is an understatement. I catorigize it as a disaster which could have been catastrophic.

A repost. Hope pictures show. Ok, here's the story. On father's day my daughter and family came over. Simple cook on gasser. Burgers, dogs, sausage and some vegetables. After dinner I did what I've done before ran the grill on high to do a burn off. I guess time got away from me. I go out and I see 2 of the knobs are on the

RichieB Thanks for the explanation, but I'm sorry I had to dredge up bad memories.

Well,I picked up an E-325 today. Dropped my wife off for a haircut, etc., went to Ace. Resisted blandishments to get bigger and better. They loaded up an assembled rig, and I picked up my bride. She is so inured to my proclivities, did not even notice it.

The cabin is very rustic, but does have power, heat, and indoor plumbing!

I will do a burn off here in town, and take it up there perhaps in April. Looks like a good basic grill.

Anyone with news of Blackstone/Weber merger?

That is what I purchased, with the burner booster. $500 + cover + sales tax.
My only criticism, thus far, concerns the rotisserie. The end panels are not very high, so spit will accommodate only a very small chicken. Similar to the prior Genesis model.
Pointing that out to the grill dept mgr, he said that one is supposed to remove the grill grates (but not flavorizer bars).

I can't seem to get Max Good to show up right. It wants to just do Max.
          OK, got it.

Removing grates for rotisserie use is not uncommon.

Initial burn in or off today. Nice basic unit. Recommend it.
Thought it was not igniting. Removed grates and flavorizer bars. Each burner has its own ignitor. All worked, but it did not seem like burners ignited. So went the match routine. Weber's match holder would not hold my long cigar lighting matches. Used match directly, turns out burner was lit from the ignitor, just could not see it. But could feel it. Clearly a case of OR {operator retardation}.

Ambient temp 40F, no wind. Got up to 525 per hood thermo, about 30 minutes. IR gun showed about 400 at grate, all 3 burners on high. Turned the 2 burners to boost burner. Works slick. In about 20 minutes, about 650 per hood thermo. Grate, per IR, almost 700.

Turned off middle, outer burners on low, got down to about 400. Turned off 2 left burners, right on low, this will be the low and slow protocol. Left side down to 200, rightmost burner about 300. Use the right burner for low and slow because if need to jack up heat, has the boost burner capability.

Exterior, including side tables, gets hot. Periodic IR readings on grate indicate fairly uniform heat.

Am looking forward to Combustion Inc's digital hood thermo, potentially transferable to various cookers.

My initial impression is that this rig will be perfect for the cabin.

You shouldn't accept faulty ignition. Call Weber ASAP. They are known for great customer service.

Max Good, Ignition works fine. I just did not realize it had worked. Could not see the burner flame thru the notches on flavorizer bar.
