New Spirit Models- How do they compare to the Genesis?
Greetings everyone. I just saw that Weber has updated the Spirit line and have a 4 burner model with 428 inches of cooking area on the grill and 35k BTUs. Looks like they updated the ignition and the burners as well. The 4 burner is $699. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these and how they will compare to the Genesis series in terms of performance and value.
Anyone have any thoughts on this. Thanks and Happy Grilling
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

King, have you seen Max's article based on his, Meathead's, and a few Pitmaster Club members' recent trip to Weber to see them in person? It may help offer some insights until full hands-on reviews can be assembled.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
While I am sure the Spirit 4 burner is cheaper, the Genesis 4 burner has 646 sq inches on the primary grate, versus 428. That is a huge difference in space. It has 48,000 BTU's as well.
That said, I spent 17-18 years cooking on a 2 burner Weber Genesis Silver A (2002) that is about 350 sq inches. I moved to a Genesis II 4 burner in 2019, which has the 646. I could cook the same stuff on my older grill - but just had to do more batches of burgers/dogs/etc to get the job done. I was always cooking in batches on the old one when I used it for big cookouts. The big 4 burner gets it done most times in one pass.
