Costco is going to have this grill on sale starting the middle of this month. Will be priced at only $699. I have read some reviews, including the one by Max Good on this site. Appears to be a very good grill at a great price, even though I believe it is a discontinued model. My son bought a recent Genesis model used, and it works great.
I would appreciate your thoughts, as I am leaning towards buying one.

If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Get it. It's a steal at that price point in today's economy.
I've had a Genesis II E-410 (4 burner, without a sear or side burner) since January 2019, and an older Genesis since 2002. The only negative about the Genesis II versus the newer 2021 and later Genesis is that the side walls are low, and I'll warn you to NOT waste money on the rotisserie attachment for the Genesis II. I did, and the clearance is just horrible - hard to spin a 4-5 pound chicken without it hitting the flavorizer bars, with the grates removed! That is my only complaint about the Genesis II however. They appear to have addressed it in the redesign in 2021 or 2022, when they went back to "Genesis" without the "II".
I wouldn’t say that the side burner is useless. But I will say that it’s something I never worked into any of my cooks. It was always easier to do whatever would have gone there inside; I didn’t have to carry the pot out and back again. Even something simple like boiling potatoes, or corn.
Mosca I felt that way the last time I owned a grill with a side burner (1990's?). Used it maybe twice. Today though I think I would use it a good bit, specially with my cast iron skillet or dutch oven, for frying stuff and doing it outside, without spatter and having to clean the stove. Sure - you CAN put the skillet on the grill grates, but temp control and heat transfer that way are terrible.
I have the E330 (no side or sear burner), and would recommend it. It's a basic gas grill, but built like a tank and should easily last a decade or more

I don’t think you can go wrong with a Weber! We still have my dad’s original Weber gasser at the lake house, along with my original Weber (19yrs old). But his is probably close to 40 years old…nice thing is being able to find replacement parts later on when you might need them.
+1. Weber's are great. But the real benefit is the replacement parts. Easy to acquire, fairly cheap and easy to install. Got a Genesis II a few years ago and totally refurbished it with new parts for like $200 and that includes a new rotisserie motor. Works like new.
