Has anyone seen or used one of the new Summits? I have only seen one review since they went on sale, but the reviewer was panned for giving a half-ass effort at it.
I’ve been in the market for a while for a top quality gasser to upgrade my 16 year old Genesis. I almost pulled the trigger on a Lynx Sedona but held off to see what Weber had in store for us.
Haven't seen the new one but my 15 year old Summit has been flawless. I do keep it covered when not in use. We also use it year round in all types of weather and temperatures.
Thanks. The reason I am primarily interested in the new Summit is for the infrared burner. I had been looking at other grills with a built-in infrared burner, but that creates some issues with drippings and potentially lost grilling space. The new Summit seems to resolve those issues but the actual burner appears to be quite small, so I do not know how usable it is.
Just a thought, but you could look at the Blaze line of grills. Their IR burner is easily removed to use a regular burner, plus their burners are 14k btu vs 12k for the Weber line. Just an option to consider. I have a Napoleon, which has the IR burner built into the left side table, so no main grate real estate lost.
Yea I agree, my Weber Summit has been in operation for nearly 6 years and running. Did replace an ignitor but that was no big deal. Doesn't get used as much as I used to use it but every once in a while, especially during the week, I've been known to roll a few yardbirds....
That said the new units from Weber look fantabulous !! I do like the IR burner addition for searing, I do wish I had that option.
The price is getting pretty steep however. I'd take a look at Napoleon and some other high end brands before committing. Regardless, good luck with whatever choice you do make

Ditto. My c.2006 6 burner Summit has been used hard, especially as a searing station with Grill Grates. Still going strong. Never had a problem with it.
