Have any of you who own a 2013-2017 Spirit replaced your flavorizer bars with the newer notched bars that are on the current Spirit II models? I'm buying some stainless steel ones from RCPlanebuyer on eBay, and think the notches must help with heat distribution, and the reason why Weber changed them as such. I'm looking at it's an updated, more efficient design, and obviously want the latest design if that makes sense.
Is it actually more complicated than that? Did Weber change the burner setup significantly enough that the notches have a special purpose that doesn't benefit the 2013-2017 models?
1. Allow you to more easily confirm the burner is lit by seeing the flame.
2. Make it easier to light the burner with a long nosed lighter, in event the push button ignition is not working.
My old Genesis had a small hole in front to do this. My Camp Chef has a hole in front of each burner that allows you to check the flame. My Genesis II has a rounded notch at the end of the flavorizer bars, and I am assuming this is what you are talking about.
