I just got this link about the new Genesis from Weber. Looks very interesting and hopefully gets reviewed soon.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Ok, these upgrades definitely are a big improvement. For me the largest I can see in the photos and videos is that they've dramatically increased the height of the rotisserie mounting, by making those side walls higher, so that you can actually spin stuff without stripping all the grill grates out. For folks that like the enclosed cart, looks like they've moved the propane tank back underneath like on the older Genesis line pre-2017.
The rest of the improvements seem to bring to the Genesis some of the "Gourmet BBQ" system type features found on their charcoal grills, with a lot more grill accessories that combine with the grate system than we have on the 2017 to present Genesis II grills.
I don't really care about the electronics so much, but the lights could be a nice feature, as well as the expandable upper warming rack.
Also note that the "Genesis II" moniker is now gone, and its just "Genesis" again.
Am I going to go ditch the Genesis II 4 burner I bought in January 2019? No. But if I were buying a new gas grill, these would be a contender. If I had not given up on using my Genesis for rotisserie purposes, I would also consider the upgrade. Thankfully the kettle is good for spinning stuff.Last edited by jfmorris; January 18, 2022, 11:07 AM.

I cannot say if you will see good buys on USED models. It is the time of year to find discounted floor models however. What I have seen at Home Depot is that they discount the floor models plus boxed inventory when Weber discontinues products. In Fall 2018, Weber discontinued the Genesis II E-410 in all colors but black, as well as the 6 burner E-610, so I think that is why those models went on clearance at my local Home Depot.
-
Aww man, I remember seeing the 6-burner genesis at my Home Depot for something like $600 (in the copper color too, which I think is really sharp looking). At the time, we were building our house and in a small rental. We had neither the space (they were all fully assembled and not in the box) nor the spare cash to get one. I am still kicking myself…

Grillin Dad when they sold the E-610 at Home Depot it was going for something $1199 before they discontinued it in Fall 2018. That one on clearance for 499 or 599 in January 2019 was the last one I ever saw. The revamped Genesis II line dropped the 2 and 6 burner models in 2019, keeping only the 3 and 4 burner models.
I feel there was a place for the 2 and 6 burner to be honest.

Pretty MEH for the prices increases, IMO. I would rather spin over charcoal and my warming rack is usually folded down or was just removed from my Webers before. The new casters are nice. The crafted stuff is just a way to sell overpriced accessories just like the gourmet system was. You can find so many of the same type of accessories for 1/4 to 1/2 the price and work just as well on top of the grates or on the side burner AND on other grills.
Now, if I didn’t have a gasser and it was going to be my only grill, maybe I’d be more excited.

Aww man, I was going to be in the market next summer for a new gas grill. Was looking at the Genesis 4-burner. Now I have to decide if I want to jump on the older model now (since the new 4-burner is $1500 vs. $1200 for the old model) or go ahead and spend the extra dough for the new model next summer.
At first glance, none of the features on the new model seem that ground-breaking, at least for me (I’ve got a kettle that I do my smoking and spinning on, and am not really interested in the ‘smart’ features). The biggest thing would be the ‘Weber crafted’ accessories, would love to add a flattop accessory to a future gasser. But the flattop they offer seems a bit small (15.8†x 16.3â€). I wonder if I would do better getting the old model and an aftermarket flattop griddle accessory?

I agree. Unfortunately, none of the big box stores near me have the 4-burner in stock, so my chances of getting a clearance sale seems to be slim. Still, I’d like to go ahead and order the old model just to save the $300. However, the boss has already reminded me that there are several upgrades to the house that â€we†would like to do this this year and my gas grill has just moved down the priority list. Ugh.

If its any consolation my Genesis II is my least used grill here. I use the Camp Chef flat top (griddle) much more often, and use the charcoal grills most. You can get into a griddle for a lot less than the 4 burner Genesis for sure... hint hint.

Change of luck baby! My brother-in-law, who lives in "the big city," was able to pick me up a three burner Genesis II for ... wait for it ... $125!!!! It was Lowes display model and has a few dents and is missing a couple of the burner knobs, but I'll take it. It also doesn't have the sear burner, but I figure GrillGrates can take care of that.
Now I just have to figure out how to move the thing 250 miles to me ...

My name is Josh, not Joey (surprise), and I reside in Central Ohio. I have been grilling since I could drive, and smoking for around 15 years. Over the past couple of years I have gotten more into just cooking, and really enjoy sous vide and the flat top. I find myself experimenting with different foods and new ways of cooking as an outlet to work stress. I use every piece of equipment I own regularly, with the exception of the electric smoker. That only gets brought out on occasion to make jerky.
My favorite beverage is bourbon. I typically have at least 8-10 bottles open at any given time. While I have favorites, I enjoy sampling new and different varieties.
My four burner which I bought in 2019 (albeit on sale) for less than $700 is now $1500? Hard pass for me. I like my Webers and have the four burner plus a kettle, but for that kind of dough you can do better IMO.

No, jfmorris, it is black. Pretty sure the local hardware where I got it was not supposed to have it on sale, but it was a steal. They were expecting the new model pretty soon, but nothing else in their inventory was on sale (and this was the last four burner they had without the encased lower).Last edited by Joey877; January 19, 2022, 07:14 AM.

From what they have on the Weber site so far, looks like maybe they’re trying to separate the Genesis from the Spirit line a little more. Maybe they’re trying to reduce the number of models too? The $1500 4 burner has a cabinet, sear burner, and side burner, no smart features. It appears the be the ‘base 4 burner’. I don’t see any of the new Genesis without a sear burner so far.

Well, they are showing new models without a side burner (I seldom used that feature on my Bull 4 burner gasser), but if they really wanted to impress me, they would have replaced the sear burner with an infra-red burner, where you go for really serious searing!Last edited by zinfella; January 20, 2022, 11:04 AM.
