I have a somewhat guilty admission to make....
over the last few weeks I tested the waters and kinda tried to sell one of my grills.....
I know I know I know. Blasphemy. But ever since finding the pit, and going back to charcoal on what became: my WSCG, 22" Kettle, and PBC I just havent used my gasser (Weber Genesis, 300 series)....for almost 2 years. So I put it up well below what others were asking. My plan was to turn the sale of the grill into a 36" Blackstone, if I could freaking find one! well, all my price did was bring out the lowballers. so after a couple weeks of declining offers, I let my ad expire.....
and then it appeared...
I know it's probably been around forever, but I hadn't seen Meathead's post about frying on the gas grill. but then I did see it. as luck would have it, earlier this spring I snagged a lodge CI pot when it was on sale (with the intention of putting it to chili duty later this season). So I had all the pieces.
Tonight I put them to work. File Meathead's frying idea under "duh." Why the hell didnt I think of this sooner! It was so easy! I've never made Fried chicken before. Never even thought to try onion rings. dang it if they didnt both turn out awesome...perhaps the best I've ever tasted(the rings definitely were!)?
If you havent done this yet...do it. like tomorrow.
