    Napoleon, Saber, AOG, Lynx?

Probably should have just hijacked one of the earlier similar threads but not sure of the etiquette (newbie here). So, similar question to pose. Looking for a 36" drop-in NG grill in the "mid-priced" range, say $2K-$3K. That rules out FM, TEC. Just visited my local dealer, who carries AOG, Saber, Napoleon in my price range. And though I haven't seen it, Woodland Direct lists a Lynx Sedona in that range as well.

I was surprised that my dealer was clear in recommending the Napoleon PRO over the Saber and AOG alternatives. Says his technician believes they are the best built of the three (and owns one personally). But, Max Good's reviews (my starting point) were gold medal rated for all three. From my looking at this channel, Napoleon seems to get the most positive feedback. Does anyone think there's any strong reason to consider something other than the Napoleon, given reputation and good local sales and service? Is the Lynx Sedona a "stripper" model, considering I usually think of Lynx as very high end?

These are all quality brands. I would point out that Saber's cooking system is very different from the traditional designs on your short list.

Wow--a response from the guru himself That alone justified the Pitmaster Club membership!

I know that the cheap "clone" IR grills out today have issues--fragility, cleaning issues, inability to cook at low temperatures. Does the Saber get around some or all of these? I read that their stainless steel system is robust but maybe not as hot as ceramic/glass systems?

And, would the Napoleon, with convection burners and the IR side burner be the best of both worlds?

Hey Max Good ! I think you're on call for this one. Before Max chimes in, the Saber is supposed to be solid.

I love that Napolean IR sideburner. That’s my nickel

I've had the Napoleon with IR sideburner since October and have nothing but good things to say about it. The AR review and comments from The Pit were spot on. We finally busted out the rotisserie recently and used it with some pineapple...awesomeness! Good luck with your decision.

clinresga Saber is solid and very well made. They offer a variety of models in different price ranges. Like the less expensive TRU-Infrared grills from parent company, Char-Broil, Saber is a very forgiving grill. With no flare ups and reduced convection heat which can dry foods out, Saber produces moist, juicy meats even when the cook may be a little distracted. Napoleon is also a great choice. We love the distinct, side by side cooking zones.

Sounds like a no-lose situation. Really appreciate all the feedback!

I have nothing to say about the others on your list, but I can tell you I love my new Napoleon after a couple weeks with it. Look at my "First Day Second Cook" thread and look at the color on the pair of birds I did on the rotisserie the very first day I had the thing. I just picked up my charcoal tray from my dealer. It is built like a tank. I don't know how the charcoal option is going to work, but just looking at the thing tells you a lot about the company and their commitment to quality. I also thought the lights on the knobs was an unnecessary extravagance, but it has saved me a lot of gas already, reminding me that the burners were on when I have left it on to burn off the cooking grates.

Seems like nothing but praise from actual owners of the Napoleons. Pretty convincing. Thanks!
