Weber summit VS Napoleon presitge pro

Ok, what say you all. I am looking for a gas grill replacement, but not right now. I’m waiting until after hurricane season to see if I still have a roof over my head. But assuming my roof survives this season, it’s going to happen.

i have pretty much zeroed in on a Napoleon Prstige Pro 500RSIB or a Summit S-470. On the summit I like the fold away rotisserie motor and cool propane tank weight fuel gauge thing, but I’m not very keen on the lack of grill lights (I do a lot of night stuff). On the Napoleon I like almost everything, except that I can get the summit for a few hundred less (right now). The blue/red grill lights are a gimmick, but I tend to fall for that stuff. I don’t think I will used the rotisserie that often (I have a Primo XL that can achieve similar results). I’m also not really impressed by the summit "smoker box", which I view as a gimmick with no actual use (as opposed to LED control knob lights that change color).

I’m looking for a "one and done" grill. It’s goimg to cost now, but in theory "save" money in the long run. I’m looking at a 10-15 year service life before replacement parts are needed. And then I will get the replacement parts and rebuild. In theory anyway.

Im sure both are great. But......well you know.

I just got the Summit 670 NG about three weeks ago to replace my Gensis. The thee burners no longer met our needs from a capacity standpoint so my sister and brother-in-law just inherited a 5 year old tricked out grill.

After close to a month of heavy use I am extremely happy with it. The searing performance is excellent for a gasser. I didn’t think I would be excited about the roto but I have already made about 10 chickens on it and it has replaced the PBC as the family’s favorite chicken cooker. The plan was to get a full replacement set of grillgrates but at this time I am happy with stock. The included grates are thick and surprisingly heavy with great conductive performance.

The included handle lights are fair at best but the light up knobs are cool. You’re better of supplementing with a head lamp anyway.

Thr smoker box is basically useless unless you like the smell while you are cooking. You can watch all the smoke leave the cooker adjacent to the smoke box. Nothing touches the food. I believe there are kits to replace the smoke box with additional grate which I will likely do.

Another bonus is that you can close the lid with three half sheet pans so we have literally been using it as an outdoor oven.

One of the reasons I went with Weber is the local availability of parts on short notice. I think there are 3 Weber dealers in my town plus every part is on Amazon.

So far, I have no regrets with this purchase.
