    Delta Heat 32" Grill

This review is on the Delta Heat 32" grill with the gold reccommendation from Amazingribs. com.

I purchased this grill about a month ago and have to say it is worth every penny!. I am one of those who must have ceramics and I wanted something well built. I have cooked everything from burgers to brisket, ribs and salmon. No flare ups, Great temperature control. With three burners, two zone cooking is a snap. I have been able to keep the grill as low as 225 deg F. During the initial burn in, it got to over 650 deg F.

I purchased the 32" LP gill on a cart. I intend to build it into an outdoor kitchen in the future. One of the advantages with Delta Heat is that the doors on the cart are the same ones you would use when building an outdoor kitchen. So I can take the doors off the cart and mount them under the grill. The doors alone are worth about $450.00.

It may cost more than some of the other "mid priced" grills, but I think it is the better value. To top it off, it is made in the USA.

Thanks for the Delta Heat review. The seem to be very few and far between...

I'm in the market for a new built in gas grill for an outdoor kitchen. I've been looking at everything from Weber, Napoleon, Saber, Blaze and Lynx Sedona (on the high end of my price range). I thought I had it narrowed down to a saber, because I was really intrigued by its unique infrared technology (I know its not the same as ceramic). However, I spoke with the store manager of BBQ Island yesterday and he was not overly enthusiastic about them (even though its one of the brands they carry) and he mentioned that they are very hard to keep lit when windy. I don't like the idea of having to worry about the flames going out mid-grill, so that eliminates the Saber for me. When I asked him about the Lynx Sedona line (which they also carry), he recommended the Delta Heat instead (I had never heard of them). Said that you cannot beat the quality for the money. I've done some research on the internet, but there are very few reviews on this grill (literally almost none), I assume due to its limited distribution. But what I have seen looks very interesting.

So... At this point I think I have narrowed my list down to Napoleon on the lower cost side and the Delta Heat if I go "premium".

My question is, what am I missing if I went the more cost conscious route of a Napoleon Lex 605 ($1,500, Lex includes sear burner, which the prestige/pro lines do not in their built in models) versus a Delta Heat 32" ($2,500) or 38" ($2,950)? I know the build quality is better on the Delta, but will I see a difference in the cooking quality, even heat, sear quality, etc.??

I have really enjoyed my Delta Heat over last year and a half. It performs very well.

      Things to consider:

      1. It has ceramic briquettes for flame taming vs. stainless steel tents. It take a bit longer to heat up, but has a more even heat. I like ceramics for flavor when the juices are vaporized. But that is just me. Some people do not like the ceramics.

      2. It is very efficient with gas, compared to grills I had in the past, an LP tank lasts much longer.

      3. The Delta Heat is 17.5 inches deep. Most grills are deeper than that. It has not been an issue
      for me.

      4. If you want a sear station, you can replace one of the burners with a sear station.

      5. It has very good control valves. I can really dial the heat in, to where I want it.

      6. It think the Napoleon probably gets hotter. I have not had a problem with searing on the Delta Heat, but if getting blazing hot is important, that is something you should consider.

I now have a pellet smoker. I use the Delta Heat for steaks, burgers, chicken (sometimes), and pizza. I really like cooking Papa Murphy's pizzas on a pizza stone in the Delta Heat.

Good luck with your research, get what is important to you. I don't think either grill is a bad choice.

Bten, thanks very much for the quick and thoughtful response. As I said, there’s not much online on the grill so it’s really helpful to hear from an owner. I’m going to bbq island today to take a look in person. I like the idea of the ceramic briquettes and can see how that would help disperse the heat. How much longer do they add to you preheat time?
