For those of us in the colder parts of the country/world, I found quite an informative discussion about the effectiveness of propane as the mercury drops...
What I've Learned About Propane and Portable Cylinders
Based on the data there a 20lbs tank that's getting a bit low will struggle to run much more than a small portable grill once the temps get below freezing.
I know I experienced issues in the past where I just didn't have enough pressure to run the grill on a very cold night.
That's cuz it's "live fire". Well, l guess gas is live fire, but it is, well, gas. Where the other is stuff burning, like charcoal or wood. How's that for a scientific explanation?
I've had it take over an hour to BBQ burgers on a Weber in Montana when it gets cold (-20F). Now I cover it with a vented welding blanket. Problem solved... Well problem helped.
