    The Ukiah Portable Grill

My sister sent me a text this this morning of an interesting, if gimmicky, portable gas grill that has a built-in Bluetooth sound system.

What caught her, and subsequently my attention was that it was branded with the name UKIAH. Ukiah, CA is the town where we were born and went to school and the City of Ukiah Fire Dept was my first job as a full time fireman.

This company is based out of Vancouver, WA so I doubt there's a connection to our old hometown. Their main product lines are fire pits that have integrated sound systems, but they offer this nifty little gas grill as well. At $299 bucks they don't seem terribly expensive at first blush, but you likely won't be seeing one grace my tailgate.

For the good of the order: https://www.ukiahco.com/products/drifter

It's an interesting product, but I do have concerns about the battery. Lithium-ion batteries don't like drastic temp swings, shock, or being neglected for long periods of time. The price is actually very cheap when you look at a decent camp grill and a decent bluetooth dual waterproof speaker.

Yeah, I wondered about the heat aspect on the BT system/speakers as well. It looks they're sold out of the grill and a couple of pits so their price point seems about right.

Like it. Not what I would buy, but who knows. What I like the most is the direction the industry is heading. More and more folks are cooking outside and no matter what method if it works then do it. Keep smoking!

But, why? Why do we need music? Why always fiddling with our phones?
Enjoy the world around you. Listen to ....... silence.

      sorry

HawkerXP no I get ya, camping by myself I enjoy nature. But without music with some of my friends they'd be on their dang phones. So I see a place for this thing, it's just not in my collection. Already got my camping grill with the PKGO (Which doesn't have speakers and costs more )

When I first read the description my mind registered "marinade grade speakers" instead of marine grade and I thought "wow! they thought of everything!"

That's funny! When I was taking a test to promote to fire engine operator "Rotary Vane" was an answer to a type of primer pump question. All of the medics taking the test, including myself, wrote "Rotary Vein"! I think that's still a department joke to this day.
