Hello grillers,
Just posted this in twitter - it is a fair summary of my question.
"@meathead Big question. @NapoleonGrills cast stainless grates (Phantom Prestige 500) vs 9.5mm ss rod grates (Prestige Pro 500)? Reading your thoughts, I'd imagine the answer to be "rod". Do the cast grates have excessive surface area? Style over substance?"
Here is my slightly crazed decision spreadsheet.
I would really appreciate the thoughts and expertise of the users and moderators on this site.
My initial thought was that cast SS was super desirable, the future, etc. But reading all the stuff on here, it seems that it might just reduce the surface area exposed to radiant heat which is undesirable. I also slightly prefer the silver look over matt black.
Thanks and hi from the UK,
Phillip
