Broil King Baron Update / Warranty Claim

    Whelp -

Let me first say that I've loved this grill. It's a Baron 540, that I bought in October of 2014.
It's done everything I've ever needed it to do.

But now, almost 10 years later, the burners are burning through.

In fairness, I have always run the grill with grill grates on the left two burners for my hot side, and regular grates on the 3 right burners for my cool zone.
The burner that has failed has been on the hot side. The other show much less wear.

The burners have a 15 year warranty.
All the parts have either a 15 year or lifetime warranty.
Sadly, the newest models seem to have reduced the warranty period to 10 years - which still isn't bad.

I have made one customer service claim, when I first got it, and they were very helpful.

I have filed a new warranty claim today, so we'll see how that goes.

I've always felt like this was a well made grill, and recommended it. Now we'll see how the customer service is. Will keep y'all posted.

    An overdue update -

I just got a full set of replacement burners for the Broil King Baron. These were covered under warranty.

I did have some snags with the warranty process.
The documentation I have - which I downloaded from their website - shows that all of the parts of my grill should either have a "15 year" or "lifetime" warranty.
The customer service agent does NOT have that same information in their system. They have all of the parts listed as either "5 year" or "10 year", and show later years of production having the longer warranty.

My grill is JUST under 10 years old. So this set of replacement parts was covered, but nothing will be, going forward. I think I should have another 5 years of warranty coverage.

I'm not unhappy with 10 years of service. With the burners replaced, (and a little bit of extra repair work), I figure to get another 8 -10 years out of this one.

I'm a little disappointed that either
    A)
the online warranty information is incorrect and they can't point me to accurate information, OR
    B) they aren't honoring the longer warranty for whatever reason.

Overall, i've still been happy with the grill, and would recommend the brand, but maybe not with as much enthusiasm as before.

Glad you got 80-100 years left out of it, oh wait, that would have only been with 1/4" thick titanium burners.

My PBC will still be running long after I'm in the cold cold ground

After the PBC dies, THEN I'll recognize the state of mizzurah

If you need to use the 15 year warranty and you can document it, it would probably behoove you to make copies of all your documentation and send actual copies in. A low-level customer service person is just going to go by what's in front of them and not concede a point they are not sure of to a customer over the phone.

I, too, am a Broil King fan.

I hate to hear they quibbled with you over the warranty. I keep the original manual for all my grills and such appliances, as it has the printed warranty in it, and I tape the receipt to the inside of the first page. You never know when a PDF online will get changed, or disappear.

My 2002 Genesis Silver A had some components with up to a 25 year warranty - meaning its actually covered until 2027 for a few things like body burn/rust through. The newer 2019 Genesis II has a 10 year warranty. So in Weber's case, they are getting shorter, and I wouldn't be surprised if Broil King got SHORTER versus LONGER as well with the newer grill warranties. It's just a sign of the times.

Hoping you get another 10 trouble free years out of the new burner set. And maybe you should flip your hot/cool zones end to end every once in a while, so that the burner wear gets evened out. Kinda like rotating your tires...

A lifetime warranty is for the life of the product. When the product fails, thus ends it's life.
Good customer service is more important than dates, IMHO
