    Not impressed

I have been using Traeger pellets, about $19 for 33 Lbs. Thought I would try Costco's pellets.
Not impressed, save for the price, about $15 for 40 Lbs. Less smoke flavor and seems to have a faster burn rate.

I found those results as well when I only loaded up my hopper with what I thought would be used for a cook, I would return early to find they burned off fast.

I also like Traeger’s signature blend for taste.

I recall reading that the Costco pellets are produced by whomever makes the Pit Boss brand pellets. As far as smoke flavor, none of them seem to produce it on my grill. Maybe it is the grill since it doesn't have a super smoke type function. I guess maybe I just need a new grill... did I just say that MCS part out load? Ahh, hell...

tstalafuse "Dr. Smoky" says....Here's a prescription for what ails you. Buy a new smoker with as many accessories as you can think of, then call me for a house call for a further checkup when you inaugurate the new smoker!

I don’t have a pellet cooker…but my father does and I’ve used it.

          Here’s my take…
Being older, his doesn’t have a “super smoke” function either. And in regular use…it can be lacking IMO. The workaround that I found is to start it off at its lowest temp…then it every 45 minutes or so…raise it up incrementally until you get to what you want your final temp to be.

The problem is that the pellets burn really well and the cooker is ridiculously efficient. Not entirely the best combo .

Yeah, I feel like they do not burn as hot and the flavor is not he same as the Traeger pellets.

It's funny I am seeing people praise Traeger pellets - my understanding was (previously, anyways) Traeger pellets were mostly all alderwood with just flavor oils for the given "type". Maybe I misunderestimated them.

Actually, visually comparing the pellets, Traeger pellets look more compressed and smaller in diameter.

Back when I had a pellet pooper I had good results with Bear Mountain pellets.
