To all pellet grill/smoker users, have you used Royal oak Charcoal Pellets?
Please post your opinion on them.
Did they work well?
How was the flavor?
Will you be using them again?
No flavor really, but the BTU benefit is great for grilling. Especially this time of year I would suggest maybe mixing them in with your favorite pellets 40/60 or so is the sweet spot in my opinion... you get your pellet wood flavor and reliable BTU for even temps.
If you go only charcoal pellet, the only advantage is they won't be affected by humidity/moisture.
bbqLuv The charcoal / mesquite did their job admirably! I think most of the flavor was from the mesquite, though...you could smell the charcoal while it was cooking, but I didn't get much charcoal flavor in the steaks. Might've just been overpowered by the mesquite though. OTOH, the charcoal really amped up how hot the grill could get...with my usual hickory oak blend, my grill tops out around 430F, but I was getting up to 470F or so with the charcoal mesquite.
