I don't know if there's anything to this, so take it for what it's worth unless you can confirm it.
My brother passed on that wood pellets for cooking and home heating are (allegedly) getting mixed up in supply chains or by retailers, and so when buying pellets make sure the package is marked as certified hardwood for cooking. His source was a contractor he was talking to today. I know my brother is a sharp guy, but don't know anything about that contractor.
I'm thinking maybe that contractor accidentally bought the wrong pellets and is making it sound like there's some kind of supply chain to blame. But I don't know, so there you have it.
