Current line-up of cookers: Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Pro, Masterbuilt Gravity Series 1050, Blackstone ProSeries 4 Burner 36" griddle, Weber Performer Deluxe and Weber Smokey Joe.
My first reaction was to dismiss it. But I can see this being really useful in a 2 zone setup in a gas grill.

Ash and embers in a grill not designed for them are just risky. The price is $24.95 for 4 pounds. That’s a bit high as I give $14.96 for 20 pounds of oak lump. In all fairness I have paid $18 or so for a box of apple wood chunks to use in a charcoal smoker for flavor. You can wrap a couple of chunks of smoking wood in aluminum foil and poke two holes in it about the size a large nail would make to get smoke and contain the charing wood. How and where you would place that on your grill is above my pay grade.

Many gas grills are already prone to corrosion/rust in the belly pan and sometimes burners. Ash can accelerate this and there's no easy way to clean it out. I wouldn't unless the grill was designed for dual fuel.Last edited by ItsAllGoneToTheDogs; May 24, 2024, 01:21 PM.

Spinaker even though I kinda did ok cleaning my last gasser the fail point in the belly pan was the side I usually used a pellet tube. Damn thing was stainless except where it counted most, the hardware and the pan. Dang 800 dollar grill only lasted 4 years. It's now living it's life at a church where they use it for cooking car parts and arts and crafts

Spinaker that had been the second gasser in the first 5 years we lived here, so that's what led me to the MAK. Though I did limp along using a Charbroil BESRG until I got the MAK it was ok for grilling but it cooked a dang fine bird
