Just wanted to give a heads up on lighting Fogo. I use a Mapp torch to light my lump, but won't use it anymore on Fogo. Using the torch really causes a lot of sparking, so if you are near any combustibles, dry grass, wood deck etc., don't use a torch. I like the Fogo and use Rockwood as well.

I"ve got a bag of fogo too decided to use last night for a b day bbq was very impressed with it, will say this will be a lump charcoal guy from now on got a bag of b&b lump texas xL size too impressed with B&B too good lump charcoal too !

update : ran low on fogo lump the other day went to ace & saw they had fogo briquettes red bag , said what the hell ! made w/ coconut shells gave them a try , very impressed with performance of the briquettes lasted a long time , put out a ton of heat low smoke , worked out great for our family steak off just f.y.i guys pretty impressed w/ fogo products so far sorry kingsford !

Yeah, it happens with most of the lump I use. To avoid the fireworks, I will either light a few briquettes or some leftover, partially burnt lump to start the fire. Then dump some fresh lump on top it. I can usually get to cooking temps in my Webers in less than 15 minutes.
