Bummer! I’ve got Albertsons so need to see if they will order it as it isn’t a normally stocked item in the store. There is a Kroger (here, "Smith’s") that I can check. There is also a Big R I’ve never been to that I may as well try.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I've used the B&B char logs, and they had a neutral flavor and smoke profile. I liked them very much for use in my small offset, but they were not a good fit for the SNS on the kettle unless using them in the bottom layer, and filling in with briquettes or lump. I've also used the B&B lump (both oak and hickory), and liked it a lot.
I am down to my last 2 unopened bags of KBB and opened my last back of Weber briquettes and dumped it into the Performer charcoal bin recently. I just checked the local Academy, who has been out of stock on B&B all last Fall, and they have the B&B briquettes in stock, at $8.99 for a 17.6 pound bag, which is pretty good. I've got to run some errands today, and think I will stop by and pick up a couple of bags, along with a 20 pound bag of B&B lump. I just want it in my garage for when the KBB runs out, and in case they go out of stock again...
I am not planning to hoard charcoal again like I used to, as my current inventory is still the charcoal I bought in 2018! That stack was mighty large, and got me through the past 2 years of cooking. My preferences have changed, and unless I see a clearance on lump or something other than KBB, I don't want 50 bags of KBB sitting in a shed again, along side 20 bags of Royal Oak and 10 of Weber....Last edited by jfmorris; January 7, 2021, 08:49 AM.

Kamado Joe Big Joe III, PKGO, PK300, Jumbo Joe and PBC. Weber kettle @ the hunting camp.
I much prefer B&B briqs in my PBC. Academy Stores seem to always have B&B charcoal, all the offerings of B&B. However, during a recent trip they didn’t have any briqs, but noticed Jealous Devil has come out with a briquette. I’ll be giving those a try as I’ve heard good things about their charcoal.

Current line-up of cookers: Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Pro, Masterbuilt Gravity Series 1050, Blackstone ProSeries 4 Burner 36" griddle, Weber Performer Deluxe and Weber Smokey Joe.
I recently bought my first bag of "orange bag" at Ace when I had enough in coupons to get a free bag. I love this stuff, but it can be a little hard to find. Lo and behold, my Academy has it available for in-store pickup today for $8.99. Going to pickup 3 bags today!
Ruh roh! I just noticed the B&B available at Academy isn't the Competition Oak, but the regular orange bag. Anybody know how the two compare?Last edited by Steve R.; January 9, 2021, 11:03 AM.

Did my first cook with B&B briquettes this last weekend. I noticed each briquette was larger than KBB. It also had a better smell while lighting than KBB. The charcoal got plenty hot in the kettle, but didn't notice much difference in taste. Overall, I'm pleased with the product and plan to buy more if available.
