If KBB is your main fuel source, I would suggest planning for Memorial Day...and/or Labor Day, Home Depot usually puts KBB on sale. After last year's KBB packaging change, I believe Home Depot's sale price was $12 for 2 20lb bags.
Fine for the B&B. Kingsford is low compared to me, I’ve always found it both over priced (even on clearance) and just garbage generally.
Your fixed carbon percentages in B&B are way way higher than Kingsford if you’re trying to make a decision. At two bucks difference it ain’t even close.
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Those are similar to the B&B prices I paid here at Academy recently. I only buy Kingsford on sale at Lowe’s and Home Depot in the 2 packs. Still burning my stash from summer 2018, when I had about 40 bags on hand.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

I wouldn't buy small bags of KBB, unless you really need a bag here or there. Smaller bags will typically be a worse deal. As mentioned above the Home Depot & Lowe's sales on the 3 US summer holidays are usually 50% off the twin 20lb packs, which is a really good deal. I use exclusively KBB I find it to be a good charcoal for its price and availability. I have heard B&B is far better for firepower and longevity though, but I can't find it near me to try it. In the case you've presented here it looks like B&B is the clear winner.

Well...I dare ya to find B&B in SoCal. LOL
Sure, a couple places can order it...but that’s no good when I need charcoal "now." OTOH, KBB can be found almost everywhere year round. So for me it’s kind of a moot point as to which has a better price.
That said, I would never purchase a small bag unless it was an emergency and no other size was available. It always seem to be at least double the cost per pound of the big bags. FWIW, it seems to hover around 20 bucks for two 20lb bags...and around $16 on sale. I still have a bit more than a hundred pounds left from the last sale.
Thank you for the input everyone. I bought a bag of the kbb hoping the weather would allow me to get the wsm burn in completed, but we have had constant windy weekend days since the wsm arrived. I also purchased one 17.6lb of B&B, as I would like to smoke a butt. Our weather is trying to turn to winter and that means windy, wet, and cloudy until it finally gets cold.
jfmorris - Academy is where I found these prices. The lowes and home depot near me did not have B&B in stock.
