Kingsford Reward Program

I just received an email that Kingsford has launched some sort of rewards program. The details are pretty vague and I am skeptical that it is worth it. Has anyone joined or dug into the particulars?

I was thinking the same. Probably 40 bags of Kingsford in there from the sales last year. Don't need any for a while.

I saw it and joined up. As a beginner I only have....I only have....half a bag of charcoal in reserve!!! I am trying to do better!

Although, I'm not kinda cool with submitting any receipt to Kingsford. No biggie....I just need to pick up five bags at Home Depot to get $5 off. Okay, sounds less exciting when I say it like that.

At the Kingsford Rewards site, they mention five receipts for a Kingsford purchase gets you the discount. It soundly like if you buy, say, 20 bags on one receipt, that is only one "point" toward the rewards, not 20.

What if I buy a whole pallet from Costco.......are there rewards involved? (Other than the reward accosted with BBQing)

It would be cool to learn more about this. I am a fairly regular customer of Kingsford.

As I commented above, it sounds like you only get credit for purchasing one bag when multiple bags are purchased in the same transaction. Considering I usually only buy charcoal once or twice a year, that $5 may be a long time coming.

Oh and not to change the subject, but the Pro I just got on the Costco spring sale is really smoking up a storm in my chimney when lit. I mean like a LOT of smoke. Anyone noticing anything unusual with the Pro? Doesn't seem to be leaving any particular lingering flavor after it ashes over.

Yes Troutman I have noticed the smoke too, but just wrote it off as coming off of a B&B test run and I had lost my ever living mind. Once I have used the Pro bags in the garage, I will be switching over to B&B briquettes full-time.

I've used two bags in my WSM. Haven't noticed anything unusual. TBH I haven't noticed much of a change from using the regular stuff. I'm guessing I might have a little bit leftover after a cook, but I don't have any "science" to back that up. I figured there's too many variables in there to be certain one way or the other.

I just uploaded a receipt from this AM (I just joined), I bought 2 bags, after uploading the photo it asked my how many products were on the receipt.
"For every 5 eligible Kingsford® Charcoal products you buy, you'll earn a $5 coupon, up to $15."
