I found it on clearance at Home Depot for $1.90 for a 15 pound bag.

I just bought 10 bags and will be purchasing more on Thursday. I Googled it to see if I could find any reviews and it was a topic at another bbq forum. A couple of them had used it. They concurred that it lights fast, has no acrid smoke smell and produced less ash than KBB. So 154 pounds of charcoal for $20.14 including tax. Insane price.
ill be using it tomorrow.

It was weird. They had 2 stacks. One stack it was $4.99 and the other stack was what you see here - $1.90. I took that pic primarily because I was going to show it to the cashier if it scanned at $4.99. Nope, it scanned at $1.90. My wife is rightly concerned about storing it but she isn't challenging me regarding loading up. She knows that's an insane price.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I also have been told that this Embers charcoal is just rebranded Royal Oak. I've liked the Royal Oak briquets I got on sale at Lowe's last summer, but don't use them for overnight cooks, as they burn faster than KBB or Weber. I like the aroma and flavor, and in fact, the aroma when starting up is less chemical and more wood smoke than the KBB in my opinion.

I agree with this. Definitely a cleaner more wood-like smell when lighting. Great for grilling

I just finished my first and only bag of RO hardwood briquettes. Like Weber it has a nice woodsy aroma when heating up. I liked the results it produced. My only gripe is that it's reluctant to light. Embers claims to light quickly and from the few who've used it and commented (on a different forum) say that it does indeed light quickly.

Just picked up some 14. somethin bags of Kingsford briquettes with flavoring in em. Apple, cherry & some pecan for 3 bucks a bag at Walt’s place. Figured it was a deal since I just had to travel a 1/4 mile for em. HD is 30 min away & Lowes is 25, so I need to have more of a reason to spend the gas money.

I just had my maiden voyage with it. To its credit it does light quickly and it seemed to have plenty of burn time. It does produce a bit of an acrid taste/smell that is similar to KBB. For the price I'm not going to complain but I am not inclined to purchase more than the 11 bags I have. The same size bag of Stubbs can be had at Lowe's for $5.59 per bag. Comparatively that is obviously considerably more expensive but it's still a good deal. Next cook I'm going to try them head-to-head.
