Has anyone seen Weber charcoal in a retail establishment in the last year? I bought the last bag any Lowe's had in my area a couple months ago, and it was taped up like it had been sitting in the back for months and someone found it underneath a pile of scrap sheet metal and patched the bag back together and threw it out in the BBQ section. There was no tag for it on the shelf.
It's hard to find, but my HD still carries it. I just haven't bought any since I've had such success with Stubb's and B&B briqs. The HD has it priced at $17.47
I got a free bag from a promo they were having last year. I will say they performed wonderfully, but it didn't pencil out to be more efficient than kbb on single cooks, which is what we do.
Cookers:
Large Big Green Egg with a Ceramic Grill Store rack system, and the SnS setup.
Weber Genesis SA-E-330 LP INDIGO with SS Grates, Weber Crafted frame kit, baking stone, griddle (2/3), all from Ace Hardware.
For the first time in a long time I have no kettles as I gave them all away.
Everything Else:
SnS #3 with certificate. I was their first customer.
Sous Vide equipment.
SnS and Thermoworks instant read and leave-in thermometers.
Grill Grates for BGE.
Kingsford Blue Bag, Weber lighter cubes, Weber charcoal chimneys.
Rubs with salt: Meat Church Holy Cow.
Rubs without salt: Home-mixed versions of previously sold SnS Grills Rocky's Rub and Not Just for Beef using their recipe. SPOG.
Spices: Lots of 'em.
Home Depot charges about $17 for it. Our local Lowe's no longer carries it. Our local Wal Mart has it for $14 and some change. I like it quite a bit, especially for low/slow.
I love Weber charcoal and actually prefer it over the Kingsford brand. If you go to Home Depot ask them to price match Lowes (which sells it for around $12 a bag vs $18 per bag at HD). Just the other day, I bought a bag at HD and asked them to match Lowes’ price. The guy did even better and said he would sell it to me for $7. Boom!
