    Limited Edition KBB Cherry Wood

Was browsing around Lowes and saw a limited edition kbb cherry wood charcoal. Anyone ever hear of it and/or try it? I think it was $10 maybe worth a try.

At ten bucks, it's worth a try.

One the one hand, if you already have charcoal and cherry chunks, that's surely the better & tastier option. On the other hand, it's only $10, and worth trying something new, especially if you don't have wood chunks.

Agree on the above. Laziness immediately crept into my brain lol. I have a ton of wood and charcoal so will stick to the true and tested.

This is something I don’t get. As I understand things, "charcoal" is fully carbonized wood. Made by baking wood at a high temperature in the absence of oxygen. All the woody stuff gasses out and you are left with a lump of black stuff.

So it shouldnt hace any flavor at all. Just heat?

Anyway for $10 a bag why not. Even if it is just a marketing gimmick

Well, almost. The carbonization process is never perfect, so the charcoal isn't 100% carbonized. That is why you get flavor with certain charcoal.

I've never seen the cherry version but they sell mesquite charcoal down here all the time. What they do is mix strands of mesquite wood in with the charcoal somehow in the briquette manufacturing process so you are burning actual wood along with the charcoal. See if you see that sort of thing with the KBB Cherry.

Interesting. I can see how actual wood could be engineered into briquettes, but I use lump. I just run under the assumption that if I want smoke flavor, I need wood chunks.
