I'm curious what charcoal other people in the UK are using.
I've stuck with the weber brand briquettes for a little while now and they seem to be treating me well, but they are (I believe) a little larger than, say, the Kingsford ones people in the Colonies swear by.
That (plus the price, potentially) are reasons I'm curious to know what other options there are out there, or what other solutions people have come up with for a charcoal fuelled grill / smoker!
I plan to try the Weber ones but currently use "restaurant" charcoal, which I get from Booker. I have cooked indirect for 8 hrs using this. I’d buy kbb if if I could get it in the UK.
Aussie Heat beads are a good option. They take longer to light and get up to temp but I find they last longer than the Weber's. That been said since I've started work at Go Outdoors I can get the Weber briquettes on staff discount and have moved back to them.
I'd see which of those two you can get cheapest and go with them since they both work very well.
Hi have a good nose around Amazon UK. Some great deals on lump, I know that's trickier than briquettes but I use it quite a bit.
Also quite a few suppliers signed up to prime delivery so can be really competitive.
Thanks... As well as trying out heat beads as above, I may try some lump. Have a rather good little Brazilian shop at the end of my road that I get a few barbecue things from that has a decent supply of lump for churrascerias, and I've used that for grilling before, so I'll experiment with a picanha then go from there!
