I saw a 20 pound bag for $25 at Lowe's. It's not cheap so I really need some Pit input before I consider buying a bag of it.

I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

I got a bag a couple weeks ago. First thing you'll notice is how dense it is. Even just picking it up when you're used to other hardwood lumps you can tell. Once lit it burns long and consistent. But it's very difficult to get started. Having tried it, I think I'll stick with the Lazzari Mesquite lump I can get locally here. Fraction of the price plus the mesquite smell is nostalgic.

customtrim Can you tell me anything more about it? Are the pieces relatively uniform in size? Ever find any debris in the bag? Does it leave more or less ash than, say, KBB? How long does it burn relative to KBB?

I loved it when I used it,mainly stopped using it because the bags were to small for me always running out.it burned clean had nice size chunks don't ever recall any foreign material in it. I got mine from ace hardware near here they always have Kj stuff in stock. I Use B&B Now Little Cheaper. as Far As Ash Goes Much Less Than The Kbb,cant Compare Burn Time i Only Use Lump For Anything Long

I love KJ lump. It’s my favorite. I only buy it at Costco because it’s the best deal, but you have to WAIT for KJ to come to your area (my current problem). I buy 6 gigantic bags, but I may get 8 bags this year. LOVE that stuff. VERY clean burn. Very large pieces. Never had foreign material. Definitely worth a try for you. It’s top notch!
