    Weber Charcoal Briquettes, Any good?

We don't appear to have Kingsford in the UK and I've struggled with non branded briquettes in the past and now use premium restaurant charcoal which is about £13 for 12KG. Just seen these Weber ones in a local garden centre and wondered if any of you have experience of them and if they are worth the extra price above my normal charcoal? I note that these are made in the EU so may be different from what is on offer in the USA! Has anyone used both the USA and EU weber ones and found any difference?Click image for larger version

Nope you're all wrong Troutman , I called Weber directly. They are manufacturing their own. Get your facts straight before you send out fake news dude !!!

Here's a very interesting Virtual Weber Bullet side-by-side versus the three Kingsford brands; original, professional and low burning.

Weber charcoal is good stuff it does burn hotter, but it happens to last long as well. I like it much better than KBB.

After smoking and grilling 3 times now with the Weber charcoal, using most of two bags, I like it a lot. It definitely can burn hotter but also lasts much longer. It means I’m having to learn new vent settings but can run longer at the same low and slow versus with KBB.

I've done a couple of low 'n slow cooks with Weber briquettes on the 22" kettle using the SnS.

On my last cook I went just over 10 hours until my pork butt was probe tender.

                Average temp was 260.
                (1) ash sweep at 7 hours using the one touch system.
I never opened the lid during the cook.
I started the briquettes using KBB since some report that Weber is slow to get going.

At $11.99 a bag I'm loving the performance.

End of the cook after 10.25 hours (maybe 2-3 hours left).

Danjohnston949 thank you. Mrs. Fuzzy is the inside Chef. I’m her smoked and grilled meat supplier. 😂

Thank you all for your responses. Really useful info especially as I now have a SnS to use. I'll stop by and buy a couple of bags next time i'm passing the shop. I'll report back.

These are going on sale around me now. I might pick up a bag and run it through the PBC, to see what I think.

I used it yesterday for the first time - hamburgers, so not a long cook. BUT, in my experience these take no longer to get going in the chimney vs KBB. In fact they seemed more evenly ashed when I put them in the SNS. Brisket Saturday will be the big test.

They burn longer than KBB so should work well for low/slow.
