Royal Oak Briquettes 15.4 lb bags 2 for 8 at Lowe's
Just got the Lowe's ad today and starting Thursday 5/18, Royal Oak briquettes are 2 for $8. Not sure if it's nationwide or not (I'm in Ohio), but that's a pretty solid buy.
I've been using Royal Oak Lump for years, but have been thinking about trying briquettes in my WSCG. How does Royal Oak briquettes compare to Kingsford? How much more ash do they produce, compared to lump? Are there any briquettes that have low ash?
I use both Royal Oak and Kingsford briquettes. I asked the same question as you when I first joined this forum and based on the positive responses I got about Royal Oak, I decided to give them a try. I found them to be every bit as good as the Kingsford at a lower price. I don't notice a difference in the amount of ash between Royal Oak and Kingsford but briquettes of any brand will produce more ash than lump.
Lowe's started the sale a day early (today) so I stopped in just now and grabbed a few bags. I've always used KBB so this is my first RO swing. I'll post my thoughts in a week or two after I do several cooks with it (including one on the PBC)
