Weber charcoal will burn a looooong time once you get it going. To compensate for the long startup time I’ve started using KBB or KP to get the fire started, then Weber to keep things going. It’s a win win combo.

I do notice the longer chimney times. It was a bit of an annoyance the first time but have simce planned around it. It’s a good 10 min longer for me.

With Lowe's now selling it for $12 per bag, I picked up a couple of bags and have used it twice, so far. I really like it. I like the 'woodsy' aroma it gives off and it seems to burn cleaner than KBB. I use KBB an overwhelming majority of the time (once in a while I'll use lump of Kingsford Professional). I'll definitely be using Weber briquettes more often at its new price point.

I really like the stuff (but will only purchase when on sale) I find it cooks really hot for a really long time. If it is in my WSM I only use Kingsford but I use the Weber in my Kettle. If I am doing hot and fast or using the SNS it works really well and I find that I that the used stuff works much better than used KBB. Its is hard to start though and produces a ton of black smoke.

Well, I decided to pick up 2 bags of this at Lowe’s yesterday, as my stockpile of KBB is rapidly depleting due to a lot of recent big smokes. I’ll probably try it in the SnS this week to cook something, and see how it compares. Hope it’s not money wasted..

Well, finally cracked open a bag of the Weber charcoal yesterday, as I finally depleted my stockpile of KBB bought on the 2 for $9.98 sales during the summer at Home Depot.
First impressions - it definitely took longer to get a full chimney going and ashed over. I started it on the gas starter on the Performer, and it took longer before I had flames shooting out the top of the chimney as well. Maybe twice as long as the KBB. One chimney of coals is not a lot to test with, but it did seem to burn longer as well.
I have not cooked food with it yet - this "cook" was just to help dry out grease and moisture in my offset smoker after cleaning. I smoked a brisket with the offset on Sunday, and I don't want a fuzzy moldy surprise the next time I go to cook, like what I had a few weeks ago after NOT cleaning the offset smoker or covering it up after making the Thanksgiving turkeys way back in November!

Well darn it, after deciding that I *really like* this Weber charcoal after going through two bags of it recently, better than KBB, I went looking for some more today. Neither my local Lowe's or Home Depot have it in stock anymore. I was just planning on Lowe's having it for $12 per bag, but I guess they were just clearing out last summer's inventory or something, and are not carrying it this year.
I ended up walking out with a bag of Stubb's and a bag of Royal Oak briquets, just to try each. The Royal Oak briquets were dirt cheap at a little over $5 per 15 pound bag. If I don't like either I'll end up at Costco buying two packs of the Kingsford Professional next time, until KBB goes on sale again for Memorial Day in May.
